Auto sign draftees
Get rid of offers and just autosign all draftees. Would stop guys from getting released from the game over and over
Re: Auto sign draftees
Yes, it would. Also comp picks except for signing players would go away
Re: Auto sign draftees
i'd be pretty bummed (in a relative virtual GM sense) if my cpu drafted 3 guys i'd never use and i spent 10-15 mil signing them. seems like another issue that opens up with this

i am with dave on this. this would really suckDRiccio21 wrote:i'd be pretty bummed (in a relative virtual GM sense) if my cpu drafted 3 guys i'd never use and i spent 10-15 mil signing them. seems like another issue that opens up with this

Re: Auto sign draftees
I don’t like auto signing but we do need a separate vote on how to fix players like Edson.

Re: Auto sign draftees
I don't think that is what happens. I think demands are just goneajalves wrote:i am with dave on this. this would really suckDRiccio21 wrote:i'd be pretty bummed (in a relative virtual GM sense) if my cpu drafted 3 guys i'd never use and i spent 10-15 mil signing them. seems like another issue that opens up with this

Re: Auto sign draftees
We have 1500 players drafted a year and we want to make a rule change that affects finances due to an outlier? No thanksSeeitsaveit13 wrote:I don’t like auto signing but we do need a separate vote on how to fix players like Edson.

Re: Auto sign draftees
fwiw i don't think it will affect financials all that much. the total "draft budget" of all teams should roughly equal the total amount given as bonuses by all teams so it should be a push.GeorgesGoons wrote:We have 1500 players drafted a year and we want to make a rule change that affects finances due to an outlier? I just posted to all the Commissioners in the Stats Plus slack asking about this to get clarification.
I will let you know once someone responds.

Re: Auto sign draftees
If it forces my team to spend $10m on a 12th round high school kid who will never make it past SA ball, that is affecting finances.Uuaww wrote:fwiw i don't think it will affect financials all that much. the total "draft budget" of all teams should roughly equal the total amount given as bonuses by all teams so it should be a push.GeorgesGoons wrote:We have 1500 players drafted a year and we want to make a rule change that affects finances due to an outlier? Re: Auto sign draftees
Dave, who owns Stats Plus stated:
My league does not have draft signing, drafted players are just added to the lowest minor league roster when the draft results are imported
There are no signing bonuses. players are free. and no draft budget is needed (i think OOTP might let a GM set one, but there is never any spend there).
He also stated:
i'm in another league with draftee signing, but only for rounds 1-5. players in round 6+ are "free". if you turn off all draftee signing, then all rounds work like those later rounds.

Re: Auto sign draftees
This seems like something with financial implications that would be more wide reaching than just "players are free now".
I don't think we should change this at all, I think we should just address what happens when players don't sign, versus making sure that they all do sign.

What financial implications could it cause if there are no more demands from players?
I understand teams will end up with a little more money each season. Like $7 Million more if you remove the draft budget.
You draft them, they will be on your Rookie roster after the draft.
No more demands, no more, this guy is impossible, so he won't sign, no more, this guy is Extremely Hard to sign, so I have to offer him twice his demand or this guy is Easy and I can offer him peanuts.

if there is no financial aspect to the auto signs and guys just end up getting that 7 mil or whatever back into their budget i actually don't mind this

Seems like you answered your own question. $5-$7million extra floating around into budgets has to find its way into the financial ecosystem somewhere. It will have an effect one way or another, and should at least be tested. It could be negligible, but we don't know that.The_Niddler wrote:I understand teams will end up with a little more money each season. Like $7 Million more if you remove the draft budget.

Yeah, it means teams will have 5-7 Mil more to spend on free agents.

Re: Auto sign draftees
Now that we know, somewhat, the financial connotations of doing this my problem with auto-signing is this. Some of the draftees ask for huge signing bonuses while others are good with slot. Many teams have to plan around that signing bonus. Sounds to me that would no longer be the case if auto-signing is enabled, right? If I'm financially strapped I can still draft the guy wanting a $7M signing bonus and not have to worry about not being able to sign my other draftees?
