'19 Budget Surplus
'19 has definitely messed with the demands algorithm combined with our historically low budgets (which were fine based on the old demands) we need to amend our current budget amounts.
Flat increase across the board-$50-$75million?
Percentage based on some kind of performance metric?
Dont mess with anything and no one will ever get extended?
Tweak player demands % in league settings?
Also, I am pretty sure if I remember correctly the asking demands can be adjusted by the commish so that can be tweaked as well if need be but Billy would have to check.

Re: '19 Budget Surplus
All of this is far too extreme, we have to let at least one offseason play out before we start getting crazy. Stop this nonsense
Also demands are the same, the settings you guys had before I took over have not changed.

If every single team gets $50-75mil, wouldn't that just increase player demands accordingly?

Sitting back and not adjusting and recognizing this is an issue is "nonsense".
Re: '19 Budget Surplus
We don’t know it’s an issue. If all demands are in the teens and low 20s in 2 months then that is much better than how it was. We haven’t even gotten to winter meetings and you want to shake up the entire league financial system, that is nuts

Uhh, didn't you just vote to get rid of revenue sharing?wdoupis wrote:We haven’t even gotten to winter meetings and you want to shake up the entire league financial system, that is nuts

You are only looking at one perspective, free agency.wdoupis wrote:We don’t know it’s an issue. If all demands are in the teens and low 20s in 2 months then that is much better than how it was. Multiple guys have stated for extensions guys are asking for in the surplus of $50mil+.
Those demands are not going to drop as it last all of the past season.
Re: '19 Budget Surplus
Eliminating revenue sharing does not alter our finances nearly the same nor affect the amount of available money to the league. It takes from one place and adds to another

Does sitting back and waiting for the demands to drop really solve anything? So eventually we just sim to arb day. Then we go ahead and sim to week or two before ST so people can afford FA's?

We don't have to sit back and wait.
This is nothing against Billy, but he can take his NDL.lg folder, make a copy, name it to testNDL.lg
Sim through a season or 3 or 5 and see what happens.

Yes but if you want to extend a stud when he has 2 years of arb left for 6 years it should cost you a fortune. Look at where the Nats are with Bryce, the O’s with Machado. Once Bryant gets that far with Cubs. Being able to lock these guys up for 9-12 million like we did was the issue. They tried to fix that, let’s see if they do

Again, sim it out a few seasons in a test league and we will know right away instead of guessing or waiting.

Re: '19 Budget Surplus
Again, this is fine to an extent but they have overdone it big time with their algorithm and guys asking for $65mil+ for 10 years when we have budgets and payrolls in the $150s isnt sustainable.wdoupis wrote:Yes but if you want to extend a stud when he has 2 years of arb left for 6 years it should cost you a fortune.

Re: '19 Budget Surplus
I have $22M available for free agents. Not going to spend that on just 1 guy. While he will make an impact, it wont push us enough to be a playoff team.

Re: '19 Budget Surplus
like i said in other posts=
18= we were dealing in peso currency
19= we are dealing in dollars
the switch over doesnt make any sense at all in our 18 league moving over to 19 financially. and at this point im kinda just tired of it. i seen this coming as soon as we went to 19 and tried to extend a few guys. these financials are fucked and not sure what the fix is.
