I looked up one team, the Mets, and they have 25 on their active roster.The_Niddler wrote:Hammerin' Hank wrote:Can we vote on this?

Yeah, from everything I am reading, the MLB still uses a 25 man active roster, so why would we go to a 27?

Yeah, I do not like this idea at all. MLB is 25 and they get 26 for a double header.
Re: Moving 25 man rosters to 27
They almost went to 26 a few years ago but the two sides couldn't agree on all the terms:
http://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/1818 ... 26-players
I always thought that 26 would make more sense in a DH league to cover that 1 extra batter - always feels like 25 would be easier to make work when the pitcher is hitting so you could have a 5 man bench and 7 man bullpen. With the DH it always feels funny choosing between a 4 man bench or a 6 man bullpen. Dramatically increases the value of position players that can play well multiple places around the field or bullpen arms that can pitch all the time...
Some of that comes down to in-game management in what the AI does. If you don't worry about carrying a DH and just have your "standard" 1 C, 2 IF, 2 OF on the bench, you can rotate around who is DH'ing or have one usual guy. But when someone in the field gets hurt, a real manager can move that DH to his actual position as needed and bring in a back-up from one of the available bench players to DH. In our game, you can't really make the game understand that your DH is also you back-up SS (for example) at least I don't think it gets it. So instead you're forced into not having your DH be any of your back-up fielding positions... thinning your bench or your bullpen by 1.
Unless we have some evidence this is different now or in 2019.

Re: Moving 25 man rosters to 27
MLB also has a league where the pitcher bats and trade deadline is July31st...so why would the MLB only have 25 active factor into this?The_Niddler wrote:shel311 wrote:I looked up one team, the Mets, and they have 25 on their active roster.The_Niddler wrote:Hammerin' Hank wrote:Can we vote on this?

Because there's already so much about this league that isn't MLB/sim. Let's not pretend.
I think 26 is worth discussing.
Re: Moving 25 man rosters to 27
They considered 26 and the players union nixed it because tied to the proposal was reducing the September expanded roster from 40 players to 28 players. Both sides wanted 26 player active rosters but the league wanted smaller post September 1st call-up roster size so they didn't approve (more details in the link I posted from 2016).The_Niddler wrote:Hammerin' Hank wrote:26 might be more realist than 27.qazhby wrote:26 would be money

We're just putting it on the table like the league did, and I don't know it would be totally unreasonable for us to come to a different conclusion...

Re: Moving 25 man rosters to 27
I barely use 25 as it is now with how these managers manage these bullpens.
Re: Moving 25 man rosters to 27
in real life, id be fine with talking about 26-27, but with like Corey said, how piss poorly the managers use the pen anyways, some of my relievers barely play and i roll 13/12.

If this is your argument, supposedly 19 lets you completely manage your pen differently. We will see though.

Re: Moving 25 man rosters to 27
what is our injury setting at now
i dont see many injuries in this league compared to other leagues i am in.
if we raised the setting one for more injuries then i would agree to add roster spot to 26
it also makes you work with a deeper tripple AAA for replacement players.
just my two cents worth of idea
