Must eat restaurants close to Doral? Dave?
Re: Doral/Miami
Doral is a little bit west from me. to be honest, i don't get out there often. only golfed there once or twice.Wasted Memory wrote:Must eat restaurants close to Doral? Dave?

thats a good site for restaurants that are popular in Miami/Miami Beach. it stays up to date and mixes in some trendy spots with other dives or local spots.
it also depends if you're looking for traditional type stuff (cuban or fresh seafood or stone crabs) or like a nice steak house/sushi/whatever

Good deal. One of them is right here close to the hotel. Definitely check it out.
Re: Doral/Miami
Las Vegas is a family owned cuban spot, there are a few throughout miami. name sounds odd, but its really good.

thats the menu, if you're with a group get the sample platter appetizer (its big) and i really like the Lechón Asado. it all comes with traditional black beans and rice and plantains.
its not a fancy spot or anything like that but if you haven't had cuban, i'd check it out. 11500 NW 41st St, Doral, FL 33178

Glad you brought this up. Ill be down there for a cruise (Dave chuckles under his breath at his desk) in February and while I dont think Ill have much time beforehand, we'll have a few hours from the time the ship gets back to port and when we need to be back at the airport. Might have to check out of of those places.
Pardon my ignorance, but what exactly is 'Cuban" food?

Pork, black beans, rice, thin skirt steak, cuban sandwiches, fried plantains, croquet stuffed with ham, etc.
Some of the best stuff you will ever eat.

Another good spot. Not quite in Foral, is La Carreta. there is one at the airport in Miami in the AA terminal if you don't make the real deal.Wasted Memory wrote:Las Vegas is right next to my hotel! Awesome.
FYI...Cuban food is only trumped by Colombian food.

Had Tropic Grill or Tropic Cafe for lunch today. Hole in the wall but great Cuban food. One of the guys I'm training took me there and it was phenomenal.
Told me about a brewery and gastro pub nearby that I'm going to check out tonight I think. Wynwood Brewery and Kush Wynwood.

ahh, so now you're talking my area
Wynwood is like the Brooklyn of Miami. its not really 'nearby' where you are so be careful if you're driving and having some drinks. its also sort of in the hood but they turned it into like the hipster area.
its safe, but just don't wandering around the streets.
Wynwood kitchen is a cool spot

Rain and distance have made me decide to try the Las Vegas Cuban Cuisine tonight. Maybe Wynwood tomorrow.
