Sounds good to me.
Many won't care, but it's a nice feature for anyone that held onto older games and ever wants to replay them. Clearly there is a market for it otherwise they wouldn't waste their time working on this.
This is different than the Playstation Now service. While that service is still planned (for streaming of PS1/PS2/PS3 games on PS4) this would constitute being able to use the actual disc from PS1 or PS2 games.
