GH Guitars on sale for $9.99 will they work?

First and foremost, Meijer's (a Walmart type store in MI, IL, IN, OH and KY) has Guitar Hero wireless guitars on sale this week for $9.99. It looks like everyone here is playing Rock Band, so first question is will these guitars work with Rock Band?

Second question...as a guy whose knowledge of Rock music is limited to only the most popular of songs (stuff on the radio, TV, movies, etc.) will I still enjoy this game?

I'm thinking about buying 2 guitars just because they are so cheap. If nothing else I can always have the controllers in case I rent the games or I can use them to trade at Gamestop.

Can't speak for whether they'll work with both games (GH and RB). I know there is something with the PS3 where they aren't completely interchangable, but I'm not sure on the specifics.

I can say, however, that having the guitars would be a good start since you can inevitably pick up the games by themselves (not packaged with instruments) for pretty cheap in the long run. Hell, last week there was a place selling the GH:World Tour game (no instruments) for $20.

yes, all guitars are compatible with both games..it's the drums for the PS3 are are not.
