Equipment
What clubs/equipment are you guys using for your golfers and how do you choose them?
I'm not sure the exact names of everything, but I use the Nike Covert? Red driver, 3 wood and hybrid. I think they are the second best club as far as power, but they still have some very good accurary. I don't use the prototype club which I believe is the longest, but the accuracy is terrible. I have no idea if the fact that we are on normal swing difficult makes that a moot point or not, maybe I'll try it out. For irons, I have the Taylormade Rocketbladez, not the tour, the regular ones. Accuracy and spin are really highly rated and power is pretty good. The tours have much higher workability ratings, but I rarely purposely draw and fade the ball. I think I have the Cleveland wedges which also aren't the best rated, but I can bring myself to use the cobra rusty one which looks awful, but I think is the best rated. For putter, I have some Taylormade one that I like the look of which is silver I think. I use a Taylormade ball that has an 89 spin rating and 83 I think power. Again, not the longest ball, but I think the spin rating is the highest of all of them.

Re: Equipment
Not sure exactly what I have in the bag, but Ive been going with whatever gives me the most distance. After playing rounds against J and Tiger, I found myself 20-30 yards short of these guys on the drives

Re: Equipment
I used to pick by power ratings but now choose by accuracy and spin. I'm not positive which clubs I'm using at the moment (changes from round to round) but I do know I use the cobra rusty wedges.

Re: Equipment
My process is to check the "new unlocked" equipment after each round and then I equip whatever adds"green" to each category.

Re: Equipment
OOTP has consumed me lately... well that and full time work and school... and wife... and baby... the list goes on and on.
I'll get on soon and play a few rounds with you guys. I normally get much more involved in playing TW around late May, then through June.
I can say that my equipment selection is always ACC/Spin (if I'm using spin in my game setup), over POW.

Re: Equipment
Can't lose with that philosophy really
Re: Equipment
Shit, I mean my guy is 90 PWR rating and Im just now getting to the point where I can get to the green in 2 on some of the shorter par 5s. What the hell is your power at Downing? I see you have a shitload of eagles
Re: Equipment
I wouldn't read into those stats, I don't think they are right. My power is 95, my driver I think is 94 and the shafts I use say +3 boost to power. I use my driver off the deck alot to get home in 2 if the shot doesn't require going over anything. The ball stays very low and just runs and runs. 8.5 degree on the driver.Weasel wrote:Shit, I mean my guy is 90 PWR rating and Im just now getting to the point where I can get to the green in 2 on some of the shorter par 5s. Re: Equipment
Wait, in the fairway with the driver?
I thought of that as well but saw the dip in the yardage vs the woods.

Re: Equipment
That's deceiving. The ball doesnt carry as far but it rolls forever. You've never hit the ball off the deck using your driver when playing real golf?
Re: Equipment
Yep, perfect time for this is Augusta #8 up the hill to the left. The huge change in elevation gives the 3 wood no prayer of getting close in 2 without a big tail wind.Cnasty wrote:Wait, in the fairway with the driver?

Re: Equipment
Holding my spot here, will post when I get home.
Though, I think I'm playing almost all Mizuno right now with a Nike putter. I went away from the peak "power" clubs for irons and wedges and went with spin and accuracy.
Mizuno MP-650 Driver and 3-wood
Nike Hybrid
Mizuno MP irons
Mizuno MP Wedges
Nike Method Concept Putter

Re: Equipment
I use the hammerhead putter. Fuck all the other ones. The driver only has one more distance point than the Nike and has like 40 less accuracy. The accuracy on all the hammerhead clubs is terrible and it does make a difference even on normal swing difficulty.
