Crazy final round for me. Hit 9 birdies plus an eagle, yet only ended up at -5

Re: Season 1, Tourney 4: The NDL Masters at Augusta Nationa
I hate the wind
I'll hit a great shot and then watch it fly 10 yds off where I expected it to go because I had a 7mph wind at the start of my swing and a 10 mph wind at the impact of the ball

Re: Season 1, Tourney 4: The NDL Masters at Augusta Nationa
This course has my number. I can't catch a break with the bounces or distances. Hit a perfect shot and it ends up in the bunker. Plus side is my sand game is vastly improved.
Re: Season 1, Tourney 4: The NDL Masters at Augusta Nationa
after shooting +30 the last 3 rounds, Augusta has politely asked me not to come back.
I spent more time in the sand at Augusta then I did on the beach in Miami

That's what I'm saying!
If the wind speed stayed put, that'd be one thing; but when it changes speeds nonstop during the swing, I look like a doofus.....start swing, stop swing, readjust, start swing, stop swing, readjust.
Meanwhile, Downing goes out and shoots 30 under par

In Downings defense, he loves the course. Its his fav. And up thru the Masters, I had the course down to where I needed to hit it for a chance here and there. 30 under is impressive.jsence2 wrote:buckeye76 wrote:DRiccio21 wrote:after shooting +30 the last 3 rounds, Augusta has politely asked me not to come back.

I dunno what he shot last time, I just threw that number out there. I remember it was a low number though.

I love the settings, and I like the challenge of the course; I just think having wind turned on for a course this hard makes it almost unenjoyable at times. I'd rather see wind at a place like Pebble Beach (where there's usually a lot of wind) than see guys shoot -30 or better on "normal" settings, than have the wind on at Augusta on "tournament" settings.

Re: Season 1, Tourney 4: The NDL Masters at Augusta Nationa
My only beef with Augusta is the changing wind on #12.
Other than that, this course is perfection. You can't just get up there and swing away, you have to think. Hitting driver on every hole and leaving yourself with awkward half shots is something I try to stay away from, #3 is a perfect example. You have to try and not have downhill putts. There are only a few traps that are not a bad spot to play out of. There are times you have to take a longer club and use loft to get the ball to stay on the greens, and others you take a lower lofted club and play the run of the fairway/green. There is so much elevation change and sidehill fairway lies, that every shot is different and that is what I like about it.
The settings for round 1 at least were just breezy, not windy. The worst wind I saw was maybe 11 or 12 mph, but not too much worse than that. The only time I will use windy is probably The Open Championship at Royal Troon which will be part of Season 2.

You know, I saw Dave playing yesterday. And I've got to tell you, this guy spends more time in the sand than David Hasselhoff!
