College Baseball
I don't even know if tball is still among us so I'll pick up that mantle.
Austin Peay is rolling at 22-5. They're always pretty solid in baseball. It makes me reminiscent of the days when we used to get hammered and go to the games, stay for a couple innings, and head downtown to drink more.
The Hoosiers are 22-3. They took 2 of 3 from Florida earlier in the season and opened the B1G schedule with sweeps of Penn State and Iowa. Coach Smith has really got things turned around because they used to be turrible; like IU football level turrible. They're building new baseball facilities to that are supposed to be among the best in the conference.

LSU is overachieving. Something like 24-2, 6-1 in the SEC, top 5.

How in the hell can Miami suck? They ought to be able to just drive a bus around town picking up random 18-22 year old Cubans and Dominicans and win 3/4 of their games.Cnasty wrote:Miami sucks..again

Thank you
Our coach needs to go. He's living on old successes. We need a larranaga to revive Miami baseball now.

Re: College Baseball
My alma mater is 20-6 and ranked #25th. Cal Poly. The Big West conference is surprisingly good at baseball. Used to go to games during college. With Long Beach, Fullerton and Irvine its a decent league.
Re: College Baseball
UK is #7 in Baseball America rankings at 21-6, coming off a series win over Georgia and took series off Florida last week.
Star player is OF Austin Cousino, kid from Ohio who was named SEC Preseason Player of the Year, and 6th best sophomore in the nation by Baseball America this year, he's hitting .315/4 HR/20 RBI w 8 doubles, 12 walks, 8 steals, and 28 runs in 108 at-bats. One hell of a leadoff hitter and fun to watch. Our pitching staff has an ERA of around 2.5 mainly led by ace Corey Littrell, another stud expected to be drafted pretty highly this summer.
Tuesday night we visit #9 Louisville....sucks I have to work, I'd love to go to this game

Re: College Baseball
Still around. I've had a whirlwind season so far. I'm working with an interesting UTSA team this year. They are one of the top offensive teams in the nation (.324 average) and have a guy batting over .520 (was leading the nation until he got into some off the field trouble). So, I've had to deal with that and we seem to play three-hour games every night.
That, plus the travel in the WAC is rough. We go to Texas A&M tomorrow and head to Seattle on Thursday. We return next Monday for a home game on Tuesday and back out on the road next Thursday to CSU Bakersfield.
Austin Peay is doing well (just outside of the top 25 in a few polls). The Governors are ranked 20th in the latest Boyd's World RPI.
I can't figure out how good Arkansas is this season. They have a solid pitching staff, but the rotation has had its struggles. Stanek, who started the year as the No. 1, has been moved back-and-forth between Saturday/Sunday.

Re: College Baseball
My South Carolina Gamecocks are 22-6 on the season and ranked 14th...was going good but got swept by Arkansas....lost a lot of pitching from last years team but nice group still around and a young core of players to still be a power for years to come....Had a nice run to the championship the past three years and happy with what they have accomplished.

Re: College Baseball
Texas is Blah this year. young talent with typical expectations that they cant live up to anymore. really hard to realize that now. Once the AD realizes it he will start looking elsewhere for another coach. Younger is what they need now. Coach Ty Harrington at Texas State would be an awesome fit. Until they change Texas will be mediocre in baseball IMO. hell in all the sports for that matter

#6 UK takes down #9 UofL in extra innings, thank God. Not sure I could've dealt w work if UofL men/women in final four AND they won in baseball

winning an extra inning regular season baseball game makes up for one who will probably win the championship and one in the final four?jsence2 wrote:#6 UK takes down #9 UofL in extra innings, thank God. Not sure I could've dealt w work if UofL men/women in final four AND they won in baseball
I've come to the conclusion that you and I simply think differently

Re: College Baseball
I mean, if Louisville's hoops teams both win titles, i'm not sure I would ever remotely even think to bring up the regular season baseball game to fire back at a friend who may be mocking me.ajalves wrote:winning an extra inning regular season baseball game makes up for one who will probably win the championship and one in the final four?jsence2 wrote:#6 UK takes down #9 UofL in extra innings, thank God. You just have to eat it in that spot.

No, you just honestly don't understand how bandwagony UofL fans are. Had they WON, they would have suddenly cared about baseball too.

Re: College Baseball
Back-to-back trips to the West Coast. We were in Seattle last weekend, got back on Monday, played at home and Tuesday and left this morning for Los Angeles. A two-hour bus ride from LA and we are in Bakersfield.
But, it's a good series matchup. UTSA is the nation's fourth-ranked offense (.328 batting average/seven runs and 11.7 hits per game) against CSU Bakersfield, which is 15th in the country with a 2.62 ERA and gives up only 7.3 hits per nine innings.
We haven't been great on the road this year (4-8), but won both at Seattle last weekend. It should be an interesting series. We also have the nation's top hitter, who is hitting a salty .482 on the year.

LSU took our pitching staff and beat them like a Little League squad.
They may be the best college team I've ever seen. And a lot of writers are starting to echo that sentiment.

32-2. 7-1 in the SEC. Outscored #7 Kentucky 31-6.jsence2 wrote:LSU took our pitching staff and beat them like a Little League squad.

I don't think any LSU fan had us being remotely this good.
Our 3 starting pitchers are legit. 17-1 record combined, and they've given up 38 runs total in 24 combined starts.

Our SPs had ERA of 2.50 before the series, including unbeaten Litrell.
Your SS is hitting like. 450 on the season
