We're taking a trip to Oahu this September for our 15th anniversary. We've got a house on the beach, and we're planning on doing Pearl Harbor for sure. We'd also like to fly to the big island for volcano national park.
Any other suggestions, must sees, or hidden gems?

Re: Hawaii
I went there on a honeymoon with my first wife, but we were in Maui and Kauai.
I have never been to the big island.
If you go to Maui or Kauai though:
In Maui, the road to Hana is awesome.
In Kauai, we took a helicopter ride to see the coast, breathtaking!
We flew over this mountain and the pilot turned the chopper around and we were staring at the huge waterfall that is in Jurassic Park when they first go to the island.
I wanted to stay there and not come back, beautiful.
Also, in Maui, the Haleakala sunrise tour.
You literally watch the sun rise. You are up above the clouds.

Re: Hawaii
Did the Big Island on my one and only trip there. Kona was fun to check out, especially if you do a tour of coffee plantation. I'd also recommend some snorkling if you haven't done it before. So much fun. Otherwise, I didn't find anything on the island to be "must see" but I'm sure we missed some things.
I think going to see the lava flow is over-rated. They don't really let you get close enough and the lava (when I was there) isn't really "flowing" like you think. It moves inches per day, if that, normally.

Re: Hawaii
t-minus three weeks and counting till we fly out. here's what i'm thinking so far:
gonna do a surf lesson with my son. put a ball in my hand, i am very coordinated with great balance. put me on something that required balance, i suck. they guarantee surfing. i'll bite.
looking at doing a shark cage thing on the north shore. they literally put you in one of those shark cages and chum the waters. saw this on "trip flip" on travel channel.
looking to possibly try a private island tour with a guide to start things off. maybe we can get a feel for things then.
vow renewal on waimanalo beach. the geek in me is excited because this is where they filmed large portions of lost.
any suggestions for golf, tours, etc.? any suggestions are appreciated.
