i wouldn't say they are 'used to humans'. just that they aren't going to attack you unless you present a danger to their cubs, they feel threatened or they are starving.
at one point we were taking pics on one side of the truck, i went to the other side of the truck to look at the pics and was sitting up on the ledge, i heard a rustle, turned around and there was a lion just sleeping 5 feet below me that i had no idea was there... easily could have ripped me off the truck and mauled me if he wanted too.
we were out in the middle of nowhere, not like we were in a zoo... most days we didn't see another truck other than ours. its so big and you go offroad and shit. the size of the plains isn't really fathomable. it'd be like being in a place the size of a pretty large state with nothing other than flatlands and animals and just driving. thats why having a good guide/tour company is so important. they know where to do go to find watering holes and shit like that to find the best /most animals.
