Buying NCAA through psn question

So if I go on today and go ahead and buy it and leave the ps3 on will it automatically start downloading when it gets released or will I need to do it manually?

There is a setting where your ps3 will turn on and download your stuff for you. Mine automatically comes on at 2 am and downloads any updates to games and any free beta tests I'm qualified for. So occasionally I'll fire it up and have a new game on there. This may work if you purchase a game from ps store. Don't know I haven't tried it.

I think this happens if you are Ps+ only though.

I thought normal PSN stuff was after midnight PST for releases.

yes but this is a midnight release whereas most games are released in the morning. I could very well be wrong but I think this is the case.
