Skyrim
Skyrim
I started playing a little bit between study sessions. I'm definitely digging it. It's in typical Bethesda style. Huge, open world with tons of quests. Obviously, a different setting but if you loved Fallout then Skyrim is an easy transition.
The engine is new so it's better looking than Fallout. The interface is a little slicker but the combat can be clunky. The game has dropped frames on me a few times but that is to be expected. The Bethesda games have really outgrown the current consoles with their size and content.
Overall, looks to be great but I haven't played enough to give it my 100% approval. I will update later.

Re: Skyrim
I haven't either. There seems to be some reference to prior events but nothing that would inhibit you. It follow the Fallout blueprint.trendon wrote:Would the fact that I have never really played any Elder Scrolls games inhibit me?

Re: Skyrim
This game has, and will continue to own my life until season 24 starts! There's just too much crap to do in one playthrough, but I think this one of the few games I plan to try and platinum.
Re: Skyrim
Enjoying it so far. My pack mules (re: companions) keep fucking dying. I lost two of them to the mages at that fort, but I still live on. Eleven levels, no deaths! Don't fucking with the man creeping around the corner with a fucking brutal two-handed warhammer! I smash!

If you get a follower that's part of the storyline, they are pretty much indestructable unless you kill them yourself. Lydia is a good one. I hired a mage mercenary in Riften and he's just broken.

Re: Skyrim
I'm definitely interested in this. I picked up Oblivion as part of a Buy 2, Get 1 Free on pre-owned games promotion at Gamestop last week. I'm enjoying it but I know that Skyrim is supposedly light years beyond Oblivion. It's actually kind of funny to play an older game like that and look how far the PS3 has come since then. We are definitely spoiled.
