Drugs must be a freakin powerful thing. I am greatful I have never fell for this horrible disease.

this dude was messed up.
This isn't a shot at you or anybody else, but I really hate when people call alcoholism or drug addiction a disease. I have a hard time accepting that something self inflicted is a "disease".kdog36 wrote: Drugs must be a freakin powerful thing. I am greatful I have never fell for this horrible disease.![]()

Lung cancer can be caused by many things, not just smoking. You don't want to be an alcoholic, stop drinking. If you want to do something bad enough, you will.packsyD22 wrote:It is because your ignorant.LetsGoPeay wrote:This isn't a shot at you or anybody else, but I really hate when people call alcoholism or drug addiction a disease. Lung cancer is a self inflicted cancer IMO.
A disease is an abnormal condition affecting the body of an organism. It is often construed to be a medical condition associated with specific symptoms and signs. It may be caused by external factors, such as infectious disease, or it may be caused by internal dysfunctions, such as autoimmune diseases. In humans, "disease" is often used more broadly to refer to any condition that causes pain, dysfunction, distress, social problems, and/or death to the person afflicted, or similar problems for those in contact with the person. In this broader sense, it sometimes includes injuries, disabilities, disorders, syndromes, infections, isolated symptoms, deviant behaviors, and atypical variations of structure and function, while in other contexts and for other purposes these may be considered distinguishable categories. Diseases usually affect people not only physically, but also emotionally, as contracting and living with many diseases can alter one's perspective on life, and their personality.LetsGoPeay wrote:You're missing my point. my grandfather drank, and then he decided one day to stop. He suffered 2 strokes and died within 3 years because his body couldn't handle the change, so please, save the "if you wanna do something you can" thought cause it becomes apart of you.LetsGoPeay wrote:Lung cancer can be caused by many things, not just smoking. Correct me if I'm wrong but at some point alcoholics make conscious decisions to drink, correct? I have no pity for people who make bad decisions knowing full well there could be consequences somewhere down the line.nick wrote:LMFAO i still cannot believe you actually said that. I spent a year in a state-mandated rehab program and calling it a "disease" - as stupid as that is - isn't one-tenth as preposterous as everything else they say. Did you know that the entire continent of Europe are alcoholics and in need of help?LetsGoPeay wrote:This isn't a shot at you or anybody else, but I really hate when people call alcoholism or drug addiction a disease.
