Custom Playbooks

Post by ReignOnU »

I know there have been some issues with the custom playbooks, including the plays not showing up, players randomly scrambling to the line, etc. I built a full book last night and then had some issues, so I tried to take the time to figure out some of the problems. Here are some tips to help you guys out:

***Special note, if you're looking for a unique goalline package, like Power I, be sure to use Holmey's awesome Playbook tool to find out which base playbooks have them installed. You can NOT change your goalline formation. The book you choose has to have it!***

1.) Do base your playbook on something close to what you want.

2.) 1st thing to do is go into the audibles menu and change your audibles all to 1 play in 1 formation that you're definitely going to keep.

3.) Remove formations that you don't want. Do NOT use the "REMOVE ALL" feature. Deselect each formation individually.

4.) For offense, pay attention to the run/pass numbers in the top right of the screen and have every formation equal a number divisible by 3. (This may not matter, so you can skip this, but my OCD forced me to do this)

5.) The best way I found to input your new offense is in sections. When you first select a formation, it auto-populates most of the plays. I found that I used anywhere from 6-24 plays. So I would select the I-Form formations that I wanted, then go into plays and set them up. I would go back and select the Weak I formations, set those up, and so on. This does allow you to maximize the number of formations that you can get in the book and give you greater versatility. When you do this, try to stick around 330 plays. (read more)

6.) Once you've got this far, go back into your audibles menu and look at go to change one of them. When you look at the possible playbooks to choose a play from, you're might find that there is one or a few formations that you didn't install. (I think this is what is causing the issue) Write them down!

7.) Go back to your formations menu and add whatever was in the audibles menu that you didn't have. (hopefully not much, if you used a similar type book to the offense that you want) Then go to the play setup screen and narrow it down to a few plays for those formations. You might have to do these 1 at a time, since you'll be getting close to the max plays now.

8.) If you have room left, install any other additional formations and adjust plays for it.

9.) Finally, go back and setup your audibles.

10.) Enjoy your new offense!

(I did all of this off of the top of my head, with about 5hrs of sleep... so hopefully it makes sense)

Funny. I said that I'd do just that all along.

Hell, I was at work thinking there's no way I can get into all that.

But I'm home now, on baby duty while the wife sleeps. They can wake up crying at any time ready to eat. So I can't really get an online game cause I don't know if I'll have an hour to spare.

I don't have anything else to do, so here I am now, scouring through hundreds of plays...for the last hour with no peeps from the babies LOL.

You said they, and I thought you were talking about your wife and baby. Considered making a joke, then remembered you had 2 babies and felt sorry for you... Babies....

I made a custom one and I'm loving it. I added a couple formations I've always wanted and couldn't get with my old standby playbook. I also dumped all the play action and most of the bubble screens and stuff. Now I've got a playbook full of plays that I'm actually going to use.

My only complaint is the order that the formations show up. For me it goes: Ace, I-Form 3 Receiver, all the other I-form, Maryland I, Shotgun, Pistol, Strong-I, Weak I. It just throws me off because I'm used to shotgun being the last set of plays before goalline. I'm not sure why it won't throw the 3 WR I-form in with the other I-forms either.

This, I love having a list of plays I ACTUALLY use instead of having to sort through ones that I don't like.

As for Reign, I think you're right with the divisible by 3 numbers. I made sure to do that last night when I made my book, and didn't have any problems with the ?'s or anything.

Same issue LGP... I have 3 I-Forms... I-Form Tight is in it's own book, separate from the other 2. Very odd.

The freezing / the sluggishness / the blank play art / the scrambled lines all seem to be tied to these phantom formations. I could be wrong, but if you follow those tips I posted, you should be ok. I'll test more and try to figure it out.

I played a scrim with Bucki last night using mine and had no problems. It's a little slow when the game is loading up due to the playbook being loaded but that's it.

That's odd. I have three I-Forms in my book (Normal, Twins and Tight) and all three show up in the same formation section for me. I wonder why it is different from person to person?

It's easy if you know the type of offense you want to run.

I ll have to look at this, i would love to take out all the play action plays no more scrolling through those things. I was kinda like Dave above looked at it, thought screw this. And im not buying you have a playbook with strong-I, weak-I, I-form, and maryland I....in it.
