Is Terps still around?
Re: Is Terps still around?
Makes UofL's 26-0 victory over Uconn look better right? Unbelievable stuff going on in the Big East.
I can not believe this. The Big East is just so unpredictable. Louisville better get after Pittsburgh. I really want a win! A victory would make winning the Big East a strong possibility.

How does this conference still have a spot in the BCS?
Re: Is Terps still around?
coming from an ACC fan, you should do some research on the last 5 or so years of the numbers. at the top, the big east hasn't had a true national contender which really hurts the perception but overall the performance has been as strong (or very close) as any conference other then the SEC.fsupenguin wrote:How does this conference still have a spot in the BCS?
i'll give you it this year tho, the big east is atrocious and it would really help if one team stepped up as a true contender.

is that a jokebeercop wrote:Nice win by UCONN. That place was rocking!

i was at a wedding and sneaking out to the bar to watch the game and saw it on mute and didn't get in front of my tv til overtime and i was too drunk to hear what was really goin on
knowing uconn fans unless we're like 7-0 i wouldn't be surprised if the place was half empty by OT cause people were trying to beat the traffic

Throw all the dirt you want at the ACC, the fact remains the Big East has been a continues to be worse than the Mountain West and WACDRiccio21 wrote:coming from an ACC fan, you should do some research on the last 5 or so years of the numbers. at the top, the big east hasn't had a true national contender which really hurts the perception but overall the performance has been as strong (or very close) as any conference other then the SEC.fsupenguin wrote:How does this conference still have a spot in the BCS?

Big East is 6-6 in BCs bowls, thats not that bad of a showing for a conference that you say isn't that strong.

And to say the WAC is tougher than even C-USA outside of Boise is a laugher.

This year or in general?packsyD22 wrote:And to say the WAC is tougher than even C-USA outside of Boise is a laugher.
This year it absolutely is. Conference USA is terrible and the Western Athletic's top three would run roughshod over that conference and Idaho is not that bad.
Re: Is Terps still around?
Take a look at the computer rankings of the conferences over the last few years and let me know how thats even remotely true outside of this year.fsupenguin wrote:Throw all the dirt you want at the ACC, the fact remains the Big East has been a continues to be worse than the Mountain West and WACDRiccio21 wrote:coming from an ACC fan, you should do some research on the last 5 or so years of the numbers. at the top, the big east hasn't had a true national contender which really hurts the perception but overall the performance has been as strong (or very close) as any conference other then the SEC.fsupenguin wrote:How does this conference still have a spot in the BCS?

So your opinion means more then the computer ratings? I fully admit that at the top the conference has lacked a power school since losing miami & va tech but overall the conference has held up very well compared to other conferences.

True, but when most of the people in the league do not like computer rankings when it comes to football (dont want BCS stuff to determine a champion), getting people to buy into that is going to be a hard sellDRiccio21 wrote:Take a look at the computer rankings of the conferences over the last few years and let me know how thats even remotely true outside of this year.

Re: Is Terps still around?
This is the 1st year in quite some time the Big East has been this bad. Last time was in 2004 when there were only 7 teams after the ACC raid. WVU beat Georgia and Oklahoma in BCS bowls. Louisville beat Wake. The ACC has zero room to talk. The Big East was 3rd in conference strength last year. The MWC is better this year, but that is an anomaly. Also, the WAC is poo outside of Boise.fsupenguin wrote:, say whatever you want about the ACC. The fact remains the Big East is one of the worst conferences in all of football, can you tell me of any big wins this conference has had this side of WVU beating OU? Perhaps I am missing one, the point being the WAC and MWC are both better than Big East, perhaps the ACC can come and keep you all company at the bottom as well
Dave, big win for you guys. I'm hoping the Stew era is done after this season. There is just no excuse for back to back losses to Syracuse and UConn. We've got more talent and a very good D, but horrible offensive coaching. Our OC (Mullen) can't call plays after the 2nd series when he has to go off script. Our O-line coach (Johnson) is just terrible. There has been no improvement in that area. We pass block okay, but our run blocking is bad. Also, Devine just wants to dance instead of hitting the hole. I'm so frustrated with this season. We could have been easily 8-0, and just as easily 4-4. We haven't got blown out under Stew, but the excitement is gone, and we lose to teams we should beat. Also, we rarely stomp vastly inferior teams. Hopefully Ollie makes the change I hear is coming.
