Re: 2087 Season Thread - I fought the law and I won
I have always felt that any positive defensive performance will highly inflate the WAR numbers along with steals.
It is a very uneducated guess but I have seen it with some of my guys that are fantastic hitters and I only use them at DH and they have good but not great numbers. I put them in the OF and they have good defensive metrics and they see a 1-2WAR bump with the same hitting numbers.
Again, its a "feeling" and I haven't done any research on it.

I mean look at JJV.
Dude had a paltry 91 OPS+ last year and put up 6WAR.

I mean, steals and good defense do help win games so it makes sense. It's just how much is probably the question.

Re: 2087 Season Thread - I fought the law and I won
would have thought record vs opponent would matter in a divisional tie before going to a tiebreaker. Oh well, we should have went 5-1 instead of 4-2

Very cool.
Is this the first time we have had a 3way tiebreaker?
Sounds spicy

Beef were 4 games back at All Star break, 2 1/2 games back on September 1st.....but the Beef choked playing obviously the hardest schedule between the 2 teams the past month. We'll take the choking, we don't mind the extra revenue from wildcard games

Re: 2087 Season Thread - I fought the law and I won
just upload your file so we can get it over with. We are going with Emery over Chamberlain in the tie-breaker. Chamberlain usually doesn't do well against Hollywood so going with the flier here. Would have went with Mills but he isn't rested so went with the 2nd best option.qazhby wrote: ↑Thu Jan 13, 2022 11:55 amand 2.5 games up with 7 games left to goGeorgesGoons wrote: ↑Thu Jan 13, 2022 11:18 amBeef were 4 games back at All Star break, 2 1/2 games back on September 1st.....but the Beef choked playing obviously the hardest schedule between the 2 teams the past month.
