Gran Turismo 5
Re: Gran Turismo 5
What level is the driver and what level is the car? This can be a big factor in how your driver drives. You can give the driver a higher level car but the more power the car has the more your driver should have experience. Imagine if you got behind the wheel of a ferrari and wanted to drive as fast as it would go, you're probably going to spin the tires all the way through the gears. The only thing you can do is keep his meter towards the cool side if the car has to much power for him. You could add a LSD and adjust that but in order to keep grip you'll lose some cornering ability in the car. The best bet is to keep the difference in level between driver and car as low as possible.

I found some set ups on GTplanet. I was using the Cien concept, and my driver is a 24. I basically used a setup for a race modded corvette, just changed up the aero, and boom. Smoked the competition instead of the tires.

Damn 24!?! You've been working some bspec races. I've been having ps3 withdrawals over the holidays. Going to head home tomorrow and play through the night to get my fix.
I forgot about aero. good catch.

Re: Gran Turismo 5
yeah dude, i have all the events unlocked except the endurance shit. I'm higher in B-spec than in A-spec. A lot of those races if you have the right cars you don't even have to tell your guy to do anything, he will just smoke everyone. so I would start a race and watch TV or do something around the house and comeback to it, and start another one.

Re: Gran Turismo 5
See I've wanted to do that but you get more experience points for directing him well. Probably not worth it but what I do is start up the race, get in front and get up and do stuff around the house, hitting maintain pace every couple of minutes.

The bugatti, zonda, furai, all will destroy the competition in the early races you can use them in.

Re: Gran Turismo 5
Hey new guys, here's some tips:
1. Unless you are using the car for the Bonus Races that have certain HP and weight requirements, as soon as you buy/win a car you think will be useful, change the oil. Do not put it on the track before you change it, it will give you a small (and permanent) boost in HP.
2. Do not underestimate the Mini Cooper s '07. Buy one for the bonus race, win some big money there, then sell it and go back and buy a new one you can use the oil change trick on, you can use this car in quite a few races and win pretty easily.
3. Break in your engine. At certain mileage points your HP will get boosted.
4. Change the oil often if you are using one car a lot. About 150 miles you start to lose HP. Check the engine overhaul too, if it's not too expensive rebuild it. It will max out at 500k to fix it. Same goes for the chassis.
5. If you intend to use a car a lot and you have the money, don't waste it buying the low end crap in the intake/exhaust/transmission/suspension. Buy the good shit and save yourself the trouble of wasting 4-5k here and there.
6. Check the requirements of the Bonus Races before doing any upgrades to the cars.

Is there any downside to "using" the items in your car delivery truck thing? I just think its strange to make you have to manually put the cars in your garage. Is there a reason that you wouldn't want to accept the car?

Re: Gran Turismo 5
No there is no reason for it, other than maybe it's someway to deliver the paint chip color as well as the car.

Re: Gran Turismo 5
I have been playing this for a bit now and it does not seem that hard. Is there a difficulty thing I am missing or does it just get harder as I get in to levels above pro. The restrictions in the earlier races seem to let you go in with a dominant car and crush everyone. Did I not change my settings right or am I just a natural race car driver?
Also, what view do you guys use? I prefer the view where I can see the whole car.

Yeah once you get into the races like Gran Turismo All Stars it gets tougher.

first and second levels are not difficult, after that it gets a bit more challenging. Managing money was the hardest part to me. B- spec is more difficult because they put a few more restrictions on you, and your drivers are total pussies.Shiftdnb wrote:Yeah once you get into the races like Gran Turismo All Stars it gets tougher.

I dont know about you guys, but I think kart racing is fun as hell. I just got gold on both the advanced tracks. Most challenging thing I have done yet in this game.

yeah, that shit is hard. I suck at it horribly.cnotes008 wrote:I dont know about you guys, but I think kart racing is fun as hell. I just got gold on both the advanced tracks. Most challenging thing I have done yet in this game.
So how many guys we got with this game now? I was thinking if we got to 12 or 16 (can remember the max for a online race) we could do a little 10-15 race NDL Points Championship. Maybe do it someway with teams and points, where if someone couldn't race one night, they wouldn't be completely screwed. And it would give some incentive not to drive like a complete mad man and risk wrecking your own guys.

i have this also, but it sounds like you guys have been playing more than I...lol I only have about 6 cars and have only raced in the first few races. I would be up for some racing.

We'd definitely need some rules so it isn't complete chaos.autiger730 wrote:yeah, that shit is hard. I also have a college friend that I play with online and he'd probably be interested if we could use another and have times that are conducive to the east coast. Now that NFL is basically done, what about something like 6 or 7 pm on sundays?
Re: Gran Turismo 5
Who is actually playing this and if so what are your psn ID's so I can friend invite you? Mine is cnotes008 if you want to sent me a friend invite.
