I can't believe how bad GB shot themselves in the foot. It looked like they were playing on AA mode out there.

Re: College / NFL Betting Thread
Most of those "home" calls were painfully obvious. I think the Packers have a holding problem, and I can't blame them. If you have peppers coming off both ends, and he has a step, your gonna protect your QB even if it means a penalty. Charles Woodson was fuckin up all night, but that's his play style, he just got caught. The hit on Cutler was painfully obvious. It was helmet to chin, not a bad call.
I mean if your gonna mug the players like its a street fight, go petition for a restart of the XFL. Otherwise, the Packers need a lot more discipline.
Even still, they could've won the game if Mr. Jones didn't fumble it away, so when it comes down to it, the fumble is what butchered them, then the penalties.

Re: College / NFL Betting Thread
sorry bears fan, but they outgained them by 103 yards, had 4 more first downs and had the ball for 11 more minutes.
That should not be a loss for a good team

So, let me ask you this; you didn't find the -.5/-1 (whichever you got) 2H line to be peculiar? To come back with an adjusted 2H line that is basically nothing more than the extension of the game line in a game that, arguably, GB dominated ...VeniVediV1ci wrote:sorry bears fan, but they outgained them by 103 yards, had 4 more first downs and had the ball for 11 more minutes.

I took the Bears in the 2H solely based on what you said. I didn't post it because I didn't want to be a dick. You said they dominated; which was true. So, I thought, "Well, wait, +.5?!"
Maybe I am wrong and just got lucky.

Well, I am 14-5 in real life. One I know I didn't post and one I thought I posted I am not "making it up" just for the sake of it all. I didn't look, though.

Re: College / NFL Betting Thread
I made the bet based on 10-7 being a fraudulent score at halftime, and it took an awful lot of help for the Bears to stay in it. While the Bears did what it took to win, they made some boneheaded decisions and I still think that team is 3rd best in that division. I'm trying to be as sharp as possible with the NFL this year, and it has resulted in 3-1 after some stupidity in week one, but I'm not pleased with adding the halftime last night to tell you the truthtrendon wrote:So, let me ask you this; you didn't find the -.5/-1 (whichever you got) 2H line to be peculiar? It really is a fucked situation. You have about 14 minutes to make an educated decision on a situation that has about 91 different factors at play.VeniVediV1ci wrote:but I'm not pleased with adding the halftime last night to tell you the truth
Re: College / NFL Betting Thread
I am terrible and I missed a huge parlay hit on Janikowskis missed 33 yarder.
Re: College / NFL Betting Thread
You will find opinions one way or the other, but I find that playing parlays just for the sake of playing parlays is not wise. Maybe VVV or someone else can expand on it, but I will only play a parlay under two circumstances:packsyD22 wrote:I am terrible and I missed a huge parlay hit on Janikowskis missed 33 yarder.
1. I want to play a big moneyline (which is rare) and I don't feel like getting chicken feed in return.
2. I have a few straight plays, I am up for the week/period, and I take all of my plays and parlay them; this is also rare for me as I am a last-minute player. I am thinking ahead if I get the game in an hour before kickoff.
That's just me, though. On two straight plays with $10 bets, you can: lose $22, lose $1, and win $20. With a parlay, you can lose $10 and win $28. I don't see the value.
Re: College / NFL Betting Thread
Yeah actually my bookie told me (since I am not a huge customer of his) that parlays are sucker bets. I did like KC/OAK/NYJ all to win and Janikowski just missed his FG bad. Woulda payed really well, but I honestly was 100% sure those 3 teams would all win Sunday.

Re: College / NFL Betting Thread
moneyline parlays with favorites are something I can understand, but even then it's stretching it.
Callling one dog to win outright is a feat in itself, but trying to pick three that all have to win makes little sense to me considering a 1-2 won't lose you much and a 2-1 with ML dogs is basically on par with like 7-4 depending on prices.
Everyone learns it's hard enough to win 50% of bets over the long run and that's even tougher with the various juices you have to pay. Just stick to straight bets is something I wish I learned when i started

Re: College / NFL Betting Thread
Yeah I'm not much of a customer of my bookie either and I don't bet much of anything. He said the same exact thing about parlays. Also said over/unders are kinda suckers. With my bookie I stay away from parlays and just bet like $10 a game. I'm pretty cheap unless I get over by quite a good chunk of change and I'll lay more on each game but I'm -$31 after yesterday I lost 2 damn NFL games. Had a chance to get into the + column but damn the NFL its so hard. Patriots give up a 30 yard TD pass with 6 mins while covering, and the Saints do the same with less time, and MISS a fg in overtime which would have got me a push.packsyD22 wrote:Yeah actually my bookie told me (since I am not a huge customer of his) that parlays are sucker bets. As for parlays, I play these generic 'cards'. All of the lines are from Vegas Monday mornings. Neighbor of mine gets them from a guy he knows. Its actually pretty shady as I have no clue who the bookie is as opposed to my normal bookie who I know pretty well. I pick usually 4 teams and bet $5 or $10 to win $50 or $100. Basically if I win one on the year, which I already have, I'm guaranteed even or just barely under as far as they go. SO FRUSTRATING when I get 3/4 though, which I've done twice this year.

Re: College / NFL Betting Thread
how do i count a game I bought off of?
I played BC +1.5 at the open and bought off with ND today, so I may just throw an extra 1-1 out there for me.
Can't trust a freshman qb that didn't even play last week to come out and beat ND, even if it's the little brother rivalry game at home...
