HOWEVER I for one like that McBride contract quite a bit. $19M for a gold glove 1B who hits 40-50 dongs and plays EVERY day. And is in the dead center of his prime. I like it quite a bit actually.

Yea, not offering him the QO is just a bad idea IMO.

I think the contract has too much of a high % chance to not work out to be worth it, but the dude has been highly productive.

It was not a QO, he was non-tendered. He did not offer him arb because his ratings have been steadily falling. I get last season was a good one but he has dropped even more since then. We don't pay for the past

Thats not how contact works in OOTP lol. Contact isnt a rating by itself. Its determined by a players power, avoid k (which he has none), and their BABIP (an under the hood rating).

He was estimated at 13M in arbi. I shopped him last season and before arbi and got one bite (that didnt go anywhere). There was no market for him.

Guys will see and pay up on free agents, but that's a bit easier than being proactive in trade talks.

Cool, nice cherry pick there sir. Only he's 4th in ISO and RBI for 1B with over 300 ABs last year. He's your first baseman. He's not there for average. He's not there for OBP. He's there to bat in runs which this guy does almost as good as people who are making $8M more than he does next year.

The only issue I have is the length but honestly 90% of guys opt out (even when it's in their favor) so this is essentially a small gamble on a 3 yr deal for a 29 yr old 1B who drives in runs....oh he's also a fucking gold glove too.
