Marraige; Where is the Value?

Come one, come all. Talk about anything not league or video game football related here.

But thats not what Trendon is referring to...he's speaking in a strictly mathematical sense, which I suppose goes completely against the 'meaning' of marriage.

First of all, if you just said that sports handicapping is NOT mathematical, please go stick your head under cold water for 15 seconds to wash out any more stupid ideas you may have ... I hear it is contagious. Besides, I have empirical data that states otherwise despite the 9% house advantage.

Anything can be broken down with math assuming you have multiple denominators. In this case we do: lifelong girlfriend and wife. You just don't choose to see it that way, instead insulting my intelligence by assuming because I haven't experienced it yet that I couldn't possibly reason or understand.

I haven't been raped anytime recently but I don't think rapists are fine, upstanding human beings because I haven't experienced it.

So, let me pose it to you again, AJ, so I can see how you dance around it this time; perhaps the tango, haven't seen that one yet.

What would be the difference between

A) Your lovely wife of 'x' years with a marriage certificate
B) Your lovely wife of 'x' years without a marriage certificate

What major deprecation does your relationship, household, and social life suffer from A to B?

Checklist of things already pointed out:

1) God is happy you aren't you aren't screwing out of wedlock
2) "Good for the kids" for reasons yet to be explained.
3) ....

Just doing a google search to answer your question directly:
Longer Life. Well certainly for men. Studies have shown that married men tend to live longer than single men. It seems that marriage has a stabilising influence upon men, resulting in less stress and more opportunities to relieve stress and gain pleasure. It seems that even a 'bad' marriage is better for men than being single; I guess even a 'bad' marriage is not 'bad' all the time!

The Marriage Tax Penalty Married couples usually end up paying more taxes than they would as separate individuals. The reason is that when you combine incomes, you often end up in a higher income tax bracket.

Advantages of Marriage Single homeowners who sell their homes can keep as much as $250,000 in profit without having to pay capital gains tax. Married couples filing jointly can keep up to $500,000 in profit. You can also save money on living expenses by sharing a home and utilities

Social Security benefits go to the surviving spouse. Widowed spouses, as well as those who divorced after at least 10 years of marriage, are entitled to their spouses' Social Security benefits if they are greater than their own, says Kathryn Dickerson, a partner with Smolen Plevy, a Vienna, Va., law firm.

Gifts between spouses are not subject to gift tax. Current law allows people to make gifts of up to $12,000 a year without paying taxes, but gifts to a spouse are generally exempt from that limit, Olivieri says. "The big advantages [of marriage] are no taxes at death and none during life," he says.

Sharing a single health insurance plan typically generates savings. While the rules vary by state and employer, many health insurance companies already offer benefits to domestic partners and same-sex unions; others require marriage for shared coverage. "You will immediately save thousands of dollars in health insurance coverage if you no longer need two separate [plans]," Chinitz says.

Spouses don't pay estate tax. One of the trickiest challenges for gay couples is estate planning. While heterosexual spouses can inherit the wealth of their deceased spouses without paying federal estate tax, gay couples do not have that option, Chinitz says. The federal estate tax currently kicks in at $2 million, which includes life insurance payouts.
Since I believe you are actually looking at what financial advantages there are I focused on that when I did my search. Although, not one of those things came into my thought process when it came to getting married.

Think of all the time you can save not doing the dishes, the laundry, and cleaning up around the house in general.

Remember:

Time = Money
Knowledge = Power
Power = Work/Time
Women = Work

therefore

Money = Work/Power

and

Money = Women/Power

or

Women = Power * Money

but also

Women = Knowledge * Time

So once you understand women you'll see that

Knowledge * Time = Power * Money

The more knowledge and time you have, the more power and money you can accrue.

But since

Marriage = Sacrifice

and

Sacrifice = (Money + Power)/Women

therefore

Marriage = (Money + Power)/Women

The problem is we already concluded that

Money = (Knowledge * Time)/Power

So now we see that

Marriage = ((Knowledge * Time)/Power + Power)/Women

or

Marriage = (Knowledge * Time + Power * Power)/(Power * Women)

and thus

Women = (Knowledge * Time + Power * Power)/(Power * Marriage)

In other words, women fuck everything up.

Its cut and dry.

You either are the marrying person or you arent.

Riccio and Trendon if we are still talking in 10 years, it will be interesting to see what path you have ended up on this marriage debate.

Riccio sounds like me when I was 24.

Now I just want to tap him on the shoulder and say "give it time little fella" :lol:
