I like Victor Martinez at first base and splitting time with Varitek. His bat is needed in that lineup. Kasey Kotchman for bench depth is great compared to the late Kotsay.......whose bat stunk as well as his fielding. I am glad Theo got rid of Kotsay a while ago. Kotchman's fielding is exceptional in late innings and he has a bat. Victor is 30 and still has a ways to go.......just hope he can play majority of the season due to his past injury history.

Richard is definitely the biggest name. Saying Poreda because he's the first guy named
the dude on mlb.com who just does prospects said

"poreda is the one with the most upside"

obviously you know more than he does.
LMAO...have you seen Richard...ever? 8th round pick with middle of the road minor league numbers and has gotten rocked in the bigs for 2 straight years with no real plus stuff. Poreda is an absolute power arm who went in the 1st round for a reason. #1 prospect in 08, and #2 in 09. At 22 he's struck out over an batter an inning in the major leagues, albeit a small sample. Point is he's young and has filthy stuff. He's gotten better in each year of the minors so far. Yes he does need to work on throwing more strikes, but we see that time and time again with young players. I'd rank the prospects the Padres got as Poreda, Carter, Richard, Russell...think they could have gotten more

The Jays shed Rolen's huge contract, but they are sending 4 million to the Reds so not sure how much salary relief this deal really nets them. Encarnacion is a solid bat, more power less average than Rolen but the glove Edwin wields is pretty piss poor. Roenicke is a big tim power arm at the backend of the bullpen who has shown success both in the minors and in the majors. An addition of a cut fastball has really helped him, to go along with his mid 90s fastball and swing and miss slider. Stewart I think is the most intriguing. Despite very small sample sizes (>50 innings) in each minor league stop, he's posted microscopic ERAs and flashes of dominant stuff. A 3rd round pick in 08, has struck out 16 in 12 AAA innings this year. Gotta like it for the Jays who clearly weren't contending this year. Only thing that could have been better for them would have been another prospect instead of Encarnacion who I don't see doing much for them

Stewart and Roenicke both have some nasty stuff. I saw them both in person (the Reds' AAA team is the Louisville Bats) and they're both very good and very clutch. Roenicke gets over a K per inning and has a nasty breaking ball; Stewart was lights-out, I think he gave up only one earned run the entire time he was in Louisville.

As a huge White Sox fan I would agree with your rankings of the 4. Pedora will be a beast once he learns an off speed pitch.

Does anyone know how many years are left on Peavy's contract?

you must have missed him owning the Tigers on SNB. I like Clayton Richard and when I've watched him I've been impressed. Much more impressive to be starting in the majors than pitching in mop-up duty like Poreda has done for the entire month of July

victor to the soxxx......shoot me in the fucking face. i hate my life. im a clevelander born and raised. my cock and balls have been teased thru and thru by the indians but we have dealt away every reason to buy tickets for 2-3 years away. fuck them. they have lost my support. i live in columbus as i am a student at THE Ohio State University but I return to Cleveland as often as obligation calls me. So fuck the clippers and fuck the tribe. They get none of my money until i see results. I HATE FUCKING BOSTON and V-Mart was my favorite player. so now what? Shapiro is fool. people pay for results, not promises. We traded Bartolo Colon for Grady Sizemore, Cliff Lee and Brandon Phillips. Lee=GONE Phillips=GONE Sizemore=Hurt.... Point is, no title no league championship. CALL ME IN 3 YEARS AND TELL ME IT WASNT A HUGE WASTE!!!
