He didn’t play last year as he took a year off after his brother died.

Arguably as good as anyone on our d 2 years ago besides Watt. Huge blow for the Steelers who could have had a top d with him (and we needed to have one to keep up in this division).

I was optimistic if he came back our d was good enough to contend for a playoff spot, now I’m with the consensus that we are likely lucky to be 3rd/4th in the division and probably a good shot we come in last. Even last place in our division we will be competitive but blah
Real bummer to hear that he's walking away. I think you're being a bit harsh on what the overall impact will be the the defense though. I think the Steelers got great value in DeMarvin Leal in the draft and if Alex Highsmith takes another step up from last season, your 4 linebacker set of Watt, Highsmith, Bush and Jack is top tier. Minkah and Edmunds at S are strong, KuJo is a nice backup there and I know CB is thin, but I think Levi Wallace is a solid CB. Could be a depth issue though, especially when matching up against Cincinnati (feels odd to give them credit).

I think the Steelers season comes down to QB (obviously), OL (a lot of youth) and whether or not the coaching staff can figure out how to get the most out of the run game/offense with those 2 areas in question.

He’s a 3-4 DT/DE who had 11 sacks a couple years ago and awesome against run

He and Cam Hayward together were unreal.

He was a starter for Pitt for like 8 years but not like d line get a lot of hype so understandable you never heard of him

Watson has a 24th girl accusing him. Can all 24 be money hungry? My guess is there is at least one credible claim, but she'll have to prove it

I don't know at all obviously, and there's probably solid odds but I keep going back to 24 women were raped by Watson and not a single one of them filed a police report or got their own lawyer, and they all arrived at having the same attorney, who is a known scummy attorney in the Houston area?

I'd just think if there was ever a scenario where all accusations are bogus, this one fits the criteria of it at least being in the realm of possibility.

And that's before getting into some things like some have admitted in texts to hopping on the lawsuit for money and other texts detailing it was consensual.

The point you're whiffing badly on is that all 24 didn't come forward and report it to the police but you think that's just some coincidence. Bless your heart.

Also, no comment on the texts from the ones who admitted to getting in it for money and the others admitting it was consensual, doesn't fit your agenda.

I didn't know they all had the same lawyer and there were texts. May have changed my mind with this one. I haven't followed it much since the initial news came out.

Absolutely someone has a legit case and while there's security in coming forward when you've got 23 other women in a combined lawsuit, I also think that's the wrong move. I feel like those that have a legit case may get overlooked because many of the other cases are pretty sketchy.

I have no idea how this really ends, but it's kind of intriguing to watch play out. The realm of potential outcomes are pretty wild...
- Roger goes full Roger and gives him the Bauer treatment; Browns are royally screwed
- Watson keeps fighting, ends up losing badly, then the Browns are forced to cut him from his crazy guaranteed deal; Browns are royally screwed
- Watson pays them off... do we get to see how much per? What does it mean if it's high/low?
- Even more information comes out in trial and it makes Amber Turd an afterthought.
- Roger goes 4-6 games prior to trials (they say the research is done), Watson has a great year, then is guilty from the suit (how do Browns fans like that?)

So many more...

...just need to get OBJ back for the season and make it really interesting.

I'm sure there is something in the contract where the Browns don't get screwed if found liable. I would find it hard to believe that with what was out already they wouldn't have put something in there to where they can void the contract. If they didn't then the Browns are just doing Browns type of things and deserve to lose money

I agree 100%.

But if hypothetically you found out unequivocally that 23 lied, how confident would you then be that the last one was telling the truth?

+1
As a browns fan, does the 23rd person make a difference and the Watson case?

23, 24, 32, 66... not sure the number ultimately matters from the standpoint of what happens. There's obviously a pattern of behavior. The court of public opinion has mostly passed their judgement. Next up, it's Roger's turn. I think the bigger issue that Watson faces is they are threatening to involve the Texans in the lawsuit. That's not going to sit well with Roger. But if you want to play conspiracy theorist and suggest that it's the Texans owner that's been connected to Buzbee through Solis (does seem plausible) then there could be an upcoming push to settle the cases and keep the NFL out of it. In fact, if a string of settlements does come from this in the near future, I'll absolutely believe this is what happened. Then you've got the whole situation with the prosecutor doing a half-ass job. The criminal side of it may not be over if there's enough new evidence. I haven't caught all of the most recent details, but apparently he had his own small towel that he would bring with him, which would lead you to believe that he had a systematic approach to how these things played out.

In the end, I have to believe at least 1 of the many told him no and he continued to do his thing anyway. But that's all based on he said/she said and numbers. That opinion in a court of law right now, isn't enough, as far as I know. To me, from a criminal standpoint, someone has to bring something more than a story. You mean to tell me that with all of these encounters, none of them recorded anything? There's no "blue dress?" There's very little supporting text information? In fact, it's almost the opposite that many of them saw him repeatedly. The good news is, ole Roger doesn't give a shit about evidence and just does whatever he feels like when he wakes up in the morning. So Watson could get anything from 4 games to a lifetime ban here.

Big Ben got 6 games for 1 allegation. Watson will get 1 season at least I'd imagine.
