Immersion has been steadily declining for the past 50 seasons. We would have 100 page season threads before. Increase in injuries and a team or two falling out of the race will cause them to lose interest as it's impossible to improve their trades as nobody seems interested in trading anymore. Just my point of view, increase them and see for yourself

You're my boy blue, you are, but in my opinion, the lack of immersion is from it being a forum based league.

And before anyone tries to bitch or say anything to me about that response, I help keep them running, so I don't want them to go away.

But what I am saying is, using slack or discord, I get notifications when there are new messages, on the threads that I want to get notified on, especially in Discord.
I also get those notifications on my phone, in a little indicator, the same as when a text message comes through.
This makes it very simple to stay up to date and read what I need to read as I am on the go.

While I am still a fan of the forums, they are sometimes harder to access as there is no app to use on a phone.
I know we have the Quick Links - Unread messages option and such, but it is just not the same for most people.

And I truly feel that is why we do not have 100 page season threads anymore.



On to your theory about injury increase, I do not follow your thought here at all!
I am not sure how increasing injuries will cause people to lose interest.
I would think it would force more interest as teams would be looking for more talent due to more injuries. It would also cause there to not be so much talent sitting in FA.
I mean, we have a 71 and 69 rated 3B sitting in FA right now.
Those guys should be gobbled up by any team looking to win-now, since they are 35 and 34 years old. And Vidro is a highly decorated player and Orosco isn't too bad either. Both are pretty good hitters.
We also have a 28 year old 3B that is rated 68 OVR (OSA) and is a pretty good hitter with a high batting average.

When guys like that sit out there, to me, that shows we do not have nearly enough injuries.

It also has a negative impact on the talent that gets created for future drafts.
The more talent you have sitting around, the less the game will populate. To put it in layman's terms.

If I go by OSA ratings for comparison, there are 93 players sitting in FA that are green (Rated 53 and above).
93, that is HUGE!
There are a total of 970 players sitting in FA right now.


There are another 377 players sitting in FA that are rated 52-45. That range should be your average players of the league, in my opinion.
So you have 470 players total (45-71 rated) sitting in FA that should be filling out teams and instead are sitting in Free Agency.

So I am not sure how the league is voting no on increasing the injury frequency, but in my opinion, it is way too low.




As far as nobody interested in trading anymore, I'm not sure why people don't want to trade as much.

I, for one, don't trade much anymore, because I am not in a win-now situation.
I took a few seasons to build up my minors through drafting and Rule 5, etc. and now I have a good minor league system and hoping they can make an impact.
Once they start to hopefully make that impact, then I may want to trade for a key player or two to round out what I am hoping I will have, but each team should have a goal and a plan of what they want to do with their team.
And I understand how trading just may not be in the cards for some people.
For me, I don't want a player that is 26 or older as that won't help when my youngens get there in 3-4 seasons.
I would rather wait till those youngens hit and then see what my team's true needs are at that time.

JD is right. The forums split the focus and I know some guys loathe it (and I don't blame them). But I also know if I said right now we are going to Slack only we would lose like 5+ GMs. I'm not sure what to do and would love suggestions.

And he's 100% right about too many quality players sitting around! Injuries can suck at their worst of times for sure, but it also opens a spot for give guys a shot. I have a perfect example of that in Edgar Baker. Guy was gonna be AAA for life. Injury forced him up and he went nuts. Same with Brian Patterson last year (who I mistakenly traded away already of course lol).

Ghost players are another cause of this issue. We only have 5 minor leagues and I don't think it's too hard to fill them with all the talent out there - especially since the age limits didn't pass. Hell we have 30 yr olds playing in Single A right now lol.

Slack is my normal go to and forums usage in the past with other leagues isn't something that was used. Is the forum still a focal point in communication? If it keeps me in the good graces of the powers that be I will post some in here.

Trades wise still relatively new to the league so apprehensive starting which figure that to change at some point. I am not generally a big trader reserved to using other avenues to fill spots right now.

I was talking with qaz yesterday about budgets. The Beef and Halos have been pretty similar over the past 5 years, in terms of success, and we can't even get close to his ticket prices, and that's with a larger market and more fan loyalty.

People want to keep the revenue sharing coming in so there isn't a push to be players in the FA market. If an owner thinks his team isn't good enough to make the playoffs they won't add extra salary and that is why you get green guys sitting in the FA Pool all season long

Slack is for sure used in trade discussions. Forums is more generalized. And I believe 2010 was the first season. I've been here since 2043 and commish since mid 2085 (I think lol).

I don’t know exact years but there is a core group of us who have been gaming together for 15+ years pre OOTP. We all played ncaa football together in a large league. Once they got rid of that game we transitioned over the years and OOTP has become the main game for our community.

There is nothing stale about our league, it’s very active and everyone is accessible in one form or another. We always just want to find ways to improve/complain.

That's a good point but it's honestly not that bad if you manage it properly. And Rev Sharing will never go away under my watch. It's the only thing giving us plebs a shot against the Alabamas of this league. Those guys could run a 220M budget forever and never win less than 110 games every single year. It's the great equalizer and people need to learn to manage it. Or you spend 4 years running a minimum budget team to get out of the hole you dig.
