Robby Matthews being drafted 5th overall by the Smokies almost didn't happen. The young fella dropped half of the balls hit his way during a pre draft workout. Infield instructor Ryne Sandberg Jr noticed something while Mr Matthews was backing up throws. Robby had some really soft hands and he got to everything glowed the son of a Hall of Fame second basemen. He's got a long way to go conceded General Manager Dustin Pedroia but we couldn't be happier with his work effort and progress since making the switch
