2078 Season Thread... 2 Rings for the Wings

Opening Day Notes:

- San Diego's outfield defense is disgustingly nice! They had 3 diving catches to rob NY hitters on opening day. That means they had 1 more hit than diving catchs in this game, and that 4th hit was a triple in the top of the 9th.
- Roberto Concepcion picked up where he left off last season going 1-2 on his was to P.O.T.G. honors in a 7-3 Opening day victory for The WIndstorms.
- Anchorage Free Agent pick up Will Rose goes 8.1IP in home opener, winning 5-4. I would say the 32 year old has already earned that $2.75 M salary hes owed this season, just 1 start into the season.
-My future starting pitcher (An owner can dream cant he!) and current star for Alabama,Eric Howard showed why hes a true ace going 8.2 IP in a 8-1 opening day victory that seen him strike out 12 hitters while only allowing a solo home run late, in the 9th inning.
- 8 games were decided by 3 runs or less. That either means we have some parity or opening day jitters.
- There were 4 shut outs and 12 games that saw the losing team score less than 3 runs (and 4 of those games in which the winner scored less than 3 runs.)
-16 teams scored less than 5 runs on opening day. Are we transitioning to a defensive dominate league or will offense reign supreme like always?

* All in all, If opening day was just a snap shot of this season as a whole, then its gonna a fun "back and forth" type season where most teams will be in the playoff running come September. Only time will tell.

Great post. Unfortunately my team was one that lost 1-0 on opening day. I think it was the OOTP gods punishing me for not giving Lugo the opening day nod

just finished watching the first series' games. 1-2. Disappointing, but what stings more is when Conners hits an rbi triple in the bottom of the 9th of game 3. Putting the tying run on 3rd with no outs vs Luna, a top closer....and we chocked. First moment of regret for not having conception for that situation.

Oops spoke to soon. Apparently theres a forth game in this series.
