2077 Beef Outlook

Post by GeorgesGoons »

The 2077 season does not look good for the Beef.

Putting the season in spoiler because nobody really cares to read about this team. And more importantly you all want to hear about the future.
Spoiler!
Starters:
Russ Mayes
Dave Brown
Jim Battle
Lou Lewis - Opener
Ricardo Barajas
Bob Johnson

Bullpen:
Mario Franco - Closer
Jorge Silva
Arthur Mason
Kevin Robbins
Frank Marshall - Follower
Marcos Luján - Follower
Nick Walker
Roberto Cardenas
Pat Santos

Pitching appears to be one of the worst in the NDL again this year. There will be two rookie starters this year in Ricardo Barajas and Bob Johnson (rule 5). We will go with the opener/closer this year as Lou Lewis did half way decent last year as a opener. The only bright spot is 24 year old Mario Franco. He is going into his 3rd year as a closer and should improve again. He only had 22 save opportunities last season and blew 5 of them. FA pickup Pepe Gonzalez is still out for 9 more months and may not play at all this year.

Hitters:
CF Alonso Gabril - He is more suited to be a defensive backup and pinch runner rather than starting. But when your team is shitty this is what you get.

SS Bob Adams - Looks to slug his way thru the season once again. He has yet to post a sub 200 strikeout season in his 3 years in the MLB. Expect a 30/30 season from him

RF Carlos Gómez - Rookie looking to make an impact on a team that needs some kind of talent. Will provide quality defense and should be a 25/25 guy his first year. Possible dark horse for ROY

1B Bill Graves - posted a 119 OPS+ as a rookie with 32 HR's. Better suited as a DH and will move there next year when he is replaced by a rookie. Another guy with 200 strikeouts but should improve on that.

3B Don Hoyle - He is just keeping the hot corner warm till he is replaced next season.

DH M. Gallegos - Of course this fucker would have taken his player option. Should have put in a clause in this trade in case he did want to come back and stink it up some more for $19M. He'll be replaced by Rob Lange at some point this year.

LF Tim Scott - Good defensive player with speed. Had 62 SB but was caught 18 times, this with a 88 speed rating and 92 steal rating (WTF!)

2B Ed King - Only here purely based on his defensive ability, +10 ZR.

C Paul Anderson / C Bobby Sparks - Anderson is here because he is a team Captain. We need some good leadership with this shitty ass team!

Last seasons record: 46-116

Projected record - 62-100 - No way they can play as bad as they did last year right?

The future:

3B Jose Vidro (AAA) - Expected call-up: 2077/2078
Drafted - 2075 3rd pick
Could potentially get called up this year but would like for him to completely develop before getting tossed in on this team. Potential 2078 Rookie of the Year. Plays great defense and can hit. Stat line could look like this: .280/30/100

SP Kelsey Davis (AAA) - Expected call-up: 2077/2078
Drafted - 2073 Round 22 (Washington)
Want to see how he does in AAA before getting the call to start in the Majors. His 50 movement may be an issue and hold him back from ever being a very good option.

SP Alan Emery (AAA) - Expected call-up: 2077/2078
Drafted - 2074 27th pick (New Jersey/Anchorage)
Same as Davis, if he does well in AAA he will get the call this season. His 49 stamina will keep him from ever being an ace, but he is a solid #3 pitcher.

1B Terrance Snead (AAA) - Expected call-up: 2078
Drafted - 2074 Round 2
Not your typical 1B due to him having zero power. Was drafted as a 3B but moved him to 1B after Vidro joined the club. He projects to bat around .320 when fully developed.

SP Juan Sousa (AAA) - Expected call-up: 2078
Drafted - 2073 Round 2
He would be thrown to the wolves this season but we are waiting on his cutter to develop more. Should be a quality #3 starter.

SP Cam Key (AAA) - Expected call-up: 2078
Drafted - 2074 31st round (New Jersey/Anchorage)
Could be a quality #5 starter once matured.

LF Steven Yanez (AAA) - Expected call-up: 2078/2079
Drafted - 2074 2nd pick
Going to force him to learn CF position this season. He appears to be a decent player that nobody will know as he does not have the superstar potential.

SS Brandon Padgett (AAA) - Expected call-up: 2078/2079
Drafted - 2071 round 3
A better defensive and baser running clone of current MLB SS Bob Adams. He will strikeout more  and hit for an even lower batting average than Adams. But once Adams starts making money we can move away from him.

RF Phillip Jessup (A) - Expected call-up: 2080
Drafted - 2075 round 2
Dude is a doubles machine! May provide some pop, maybe good for 20 or so HR's. Not exactly suited for OF play so may end up being a DH.

SP Dick Benard (A) - Expected call-up: 2080/2081
Drafted - 2076 3rd pick
Would have easily been the #1 pick in the draft if he had any kind of stamina.

LF Martin Garcia (R) - Expected call-up 2082
Drafted - 2075 24th pick (Anchorage)
Looks to be a power hitter that could produce 30 HR's while batting .260(ish)

CL Marcos Angel (INT) - Expected call-up: 2082
If he could develop that change up or find a new pitch he could become a stud!

If all those prospects reach the ceiling you project should be a fun Beef squad in the 2080s. Just learn how to not go over budget and give 10 year extensions

If I haven't learned the budget game by now I don't think it'll ever happen.
