2075 Season Thread... Ducks Fly Together
Re: 2075 Season Thread... Ducks Fly Together
Why not? It’s in the rules who cares. Protect your relievers
Re: 2075 Season Thread... Ducks Fly Together
so coming off a WS win with what i'd imagine is 80% of your team coming back, you'd take 10 guys in the rule 5 draft?
you see 2 or 3 or 4 guys you like who have a legit chance to make your 26 man roster...by all means...go for it....but 10?

Re: 2075 Season Thread... Ducks Fly Together
Ocd has 16 total pitchers and before the rule 5 had 4 total relievers. They just took on cheap 400k contracts and spent their money else where.
Fact is... if OCD wants your reliever then maybe the team that he got it from should of put them on their 40 man cause if the champs can use em I’m sure the team that lost them could too.

If they do they do. But it’s not ocds concern.
Re: 2075 Season Thread... Ducks Fly Together
Thing is you make a list and expect most get protected. I doubt he expected to get them all so I am sure he does release a bunch. I always have good teams and usually a 15-20 man list and end up with 1 guy
Re: 2075 Season Thread... Ducks Fly Together
Draft happens on 12/30, one of the biggest reports comes on 1/1 so I get a free look at them to see if they had any unexpected jumps in ratings
5, maybe 6 of the guys I took were listed as SPs but really should have been RPs. I can't see their rating as a RP until after drafting them
Competition, extended evaluation... Maybe the catcher allows me to move on an expensive backup. The relievers were all similar so maybe I need to see who's ready or what type I really need come the regular season.
Maybe I just was hammered last night and threw together a last minute list. Maybe I'm just a owner without a clue, it really shouldn't generate this much debate. I'll have to get my roster down to 26 just like every other team and as long as the players are returned prior to the start of the year, there's no effect to the team that originally lost them as they won't be given a ML deal.

I’m just happy no one drafted any Vice members. I had 3 relievers I thought could go. Thankfully based off OCDs list they actually suck

Ya that Camacho contract isn't good but it's not awful. You guys realize we have so much more money to throw around now compared to 5 years ago. No more draft expenses. Now no more staff expenses. That $20M/yr contract is like $15M 5 years ago.
Again, ain't good but ain't bad and if you are money capped it doesn't even matter lol.

Lesser teams will never get better if WS winners poach players that either:
A:) Shouldn’t need protecting because they are 21 with 35/73 ratings
B:) Can’t protect all of them because of 40 man is full
But teams need to do what they need to. Im not complaining about the moves but todays rule 5 was the most interesting to me in quite awhile

Lesser teams will get better. If you are a lesser team, you don't have a full 40 man worth a shit. So protect that guys that need to be protected. There is no excuse for teams to not protect someone if your team thinks they are good.cougnix wrote: ↑Tue Sep 08, 2020 6:08 pm Lesser teams will never get better if WS winners poach players that either:

If you don't they get picked.
This is the very reason I like Rule 5, so teams cannot hoard young talent.

you're an idiot. can't you just have a normal fucking conversation once in your life?
we're adults.... do you really think we don't know he can do whatever he wants when it comes to the rule 5 draft? stop being a fucking contrarian about everything and either contribute or just don't respond
there is a reason he took 10 guys and it sure as fuck isn't to "try them out in spring training"
