Anyone ever google police shooting of white man? Plenty of videos of that as well. Is there any hope that the racial side of it will stop being the focal point? I watched 4 videos and 3 of them showed the same basic causes. Not complying, being hopped up on drugs (appears to be), appearing to act in a threatening way and escalating aggression. The other one is far away and appears to be an execution but who knows what happened prior to the video.

I have read responses from numerous people and its getting ridiculous. Donovan Mitchell was the only one I noticed that mentioned what the young man could have done differently. By no means do I think shooting someone in the back 7 times is appropriate however the entire situation could have gone differently if both sides had done a few things different.

Doc Rivers quote..."That video, if you watch that video, you don't need to be Black to be outraged," Rivers said. "You need to be American and outraged. How dare the Republicans talk about fear. We're the ones that need to be scared. We're the ones having to talk to every Black child. What white father has to give his son a talk about being careful if you get pulled over?"

Yes I talk to both of my sons about how to handle the situation when you are pulled over because its a scary thing. I can't pretend to know what its like for a black man but I do know how it feels for the handful of times I have been pulled over. I do know that every time I was respectful and did as instructed the encounter went smoothly. The one time I was lippy and aggressive in my responses, the situation did not go as well. He must not have seen both videos, my guess is when he says "that video" its the one from across the street and not the one that's from the other side of the car, that shows the non lethal force that was used (appears to be tazed and tackled) and the young man kept fighting.

Lebron quote...."You have no idea how that cop that day left the house," James said. "You don't know if he woke up on the wrong side of the bed, you don't know if he had an argument at home with his significant other, you don't know if one of his kids said something to him and he left the house steaming. Or maybe he just left the house saying that, 'Today is going to be the end for one of these Black people.' That's what it feels like. That's what it feels like. It just hurts. It hurts."

I was with James on everything he said in the article until that. If he believes that then I don't really know what to say. He is entitled to his opinion but it pains me to see someone that has so much influence on the younger generation to fuel the issue with a statement like that. He must have forgot that someone in the community called in a domestic disturbance, that the police were requested. They did not just drive around, see this young man and go this is the guy were are going to f with today. James has an opportunity to elicit real change, to call for police training reform, to call for community response reform, to urge the next generation to act with a level of respect and cooperation.

Its going to take change on all sides of the issue and again (like most things in life) is going to take people coming together not pushing each other further apart.

On a lighter note any one read about Kim Klacik....I haven't read enough on her but her message and principles seem like they can appeal to both sides of the isle. I hope to see more voices like this gain traction.

The scary thing with Lebron, like you said is how much power his voice has, and with every single issue he speaks on, he is very uninformed and continually throws out misinformation. Every time, without fail.

You'd think when your voice is that powerful, and you're attempting to speak for all black people, which he did and many black people disagree with him, then you'd want to ensure you get facts straight, but he never seems to care about what he says and constantly puts out misinformation.

**Cut down your quote to save some space**

Here's where the divide and issue with the way things are frame causes the problem...
- Police brutality is a thing. There are officers that are far too aggressive and they overstep.
- If the only statistics you look at are officer involved shootings, then yes, it's fairly similar both inter and inner racially.
- However... I think it's very disingenuous for a white person to state that this is a level playing. DWB is a 'crime' in many communities and will get you pulled over. Profiling is real.
- The protests come out around deaths, but the heart of the issue is the aggressiveness, frequency and experienced interactions that do NOT result in deaths.

Whether you believe the push of protests is truly organic or it's induced, it's really irrelevant. There is an issue with officer interactions. Those interactions are slanted to black people. There is a chicken & egg question that has to be asked regarding the frequency of compliance and how we've gotten to where we are. There is also the fact that the most correlative statistic isn't race, but economic status. Why is that? More apt to commit crime? More apt not to comply? More apt to be beat up on because of their perceived inability to defend themselves in front of a judge (means)?

This isn't a right/left issue. It really is an American issue. But we're not going to solve the problem because we have too many people that won't slow down and try to understand what the root cause is. The fire is stoked by the vocal minority on each side and it's only getting worse.

I'm not understanding how Republicans got lumped into Doc's statement there.

As far as LeBron, I'm getting tires of his rhetoric. Like Shel said, so off so many times it's getting old. But ignorant people listen to him because they are too lazy to look up the real info. He's brought up Michael Brown over the years and it was proven that the officer acted in self defense. It does nothing but divide the country when bringing up falsehoods like that

My one kid, 9 year old, is destined for community college.

I'm working from home, and they're on a Zoom session with their math teacher. She's having them jot some notes down in their notebook stating she will ask them questions so it's important to write it all down. I hear him scrambling and all frustrated. I come out and ask him what's the issue, and he tells me he's writing the stuff down that the teacher said but he's out of room at the end of the page in his notebook. I asked him why can't he go to the next page, he says, "oh yea, I didn't think of that."

They found a knife.

Wisconsin DOJ states Jacob Blake admitted that he had a knife in his possession. The knife was recovered from the scene as well.

The Wisconsin Justice Department revealed Wednesday that Jacob Blake had admitted to investigators that “he had a knife in his possession” when he was shot seven times in the back by Kenosha police on Sunday.

Investigators found a knife on the “driver’s side floorboard of Mr. Blake’s vehicle,”

Would be easier for you to just admit you were wrong and throwing shit at the wall hoping it would go the way you wanted it to but it didn't.

its crazy how the cops were fighting this guy who "had a knife on him" and never during the fight did he use the "knife" on them.. but when walking back to his car he "had a knife on him" and then the DOJ said they found the knife on the floor of his car.. so I guess by white is rights logic that means he dropped it when he got shot 7 times in the back right?

weird.. never used the knife ever on them during any of the fight but in that moment he was going to his car.. presumably to pick up the knife he had in his hand already.. ...he was shot.. because the DOJ said themselves they found the knife on the floorboard of the drivers seat...

unless you guys think he was going to his car to reach on the floor to get the knife.. in which case why not just stand a few feet back as cops and if he turned around with it, shoot him then?

ahh, cause thats probably not what happened.
