Why is that unlikely? With the US population, I'd imagine a whole bunch of old people die in a nursing home on a daily basis.
So now factor NY's population, probably over 3 times the avg state population, and that their first confirmed COVID death was March 1st. So how many nursing home deaths would you expect in NY over 6 weeks? I have no idea, but it's in the 1000s.
So, if you don't know how many people usually die in NY nursing homes per day, and how many are dying now, then how are you extrapolating any of that data into anything meaningful?
Based on the data, isn't that what you just admitted IS happening even without COVID? On avg, 24 people per state die daily. Why would that be national news?Furthermore.. can you imagine 24 people in nursing homes per state dying each day? That would be national news in a week.
