Re: COVID-19
Some people are just too damn stupid to understand the premise of what I was saying.
Nick said his mom was an at risk person. She works Ina job where she deals with the public, most presumably sick. The only way she can remain safe here is to self quarantine.

Re: COVID-19
They miscommunication, I believe, is everyone is interpreting George's statement as close all pharmacies, send all nurses, doctors, etc. home.
He's actually just saying the older, bad health workers in those fields.

Didn't catch the guys name that works in the federal government. He said we could reach 30% unemployment when this is all said and done.

Re: COVID-19
I've read George's statement as he replied to me and said ANY at risk individual should stay home, NO EXCEPTIONS. In a perfect world, manning is 200% or more and there's always someone to cover if someone is not there. That's simply not the case

Re: COVID-19
9339 new cases yesterday after the first drop in a while.
I assume we will really start to see the numbers start skyrocketing as tests come back from last week.
Saturday 4824 cases
Sunday 9339 cases
46 deaths Saturday
117 Sunday

Re: COVID-19
I don't think that's totally misunderstood. It's just an ridiculous statement to think that it's not very common for people to have to weigh their health risk vs financial risk and if many of these people lose their financial income, the results could be just as devastating.
This isn't just about getting COVID vs not having money. Most of the jobs being cut out by the stay-at-home orders are low income employees who barely make it paycheck to paycheck. Many that will be at higher risk of drug abuse, criminal activity, suicide, etc. This is going to have significant consequences well beyond the death rate of the disease.

This is the problem with people. Your understanding of my reply was what you wanted it to be for the sake of wanting to argue or try to make someone look stupid.
I said the only way for these people at risk to ensure they live is to self quarantine. If they do not, they put themselves at risk of dying.

Re: COVID-19
Kind of why I said these stay at home orders are meaningless. People have to pay their bills and buy food. Untill some kind of pause on mortgage, rent auto loans, etc get forgiven for a month or 3 or however long it needs the virus will continue to be spread out of pure need to have money to make their way.ReignOnU wrote: ↑Mon Mar 23, 2020 9:05 am I don't think that's totally misunderstood. A lady said this morning that 40% of Americans cannot write a check for $500. Think about how much you spend at the grocery store each week or every other week and realize how fast that $500 will go

Re: COVID-19
I've heard that some states are going to continue to highly restrict testing to only the most severe. Seems odd to me that if the tests are available (highly doubting they are at the source) that we'd not be firing these out to nearly anyone with symptoms.
The only real numbers I'm looking at are the deaths per day and death rate. If we get an estimate on death rate, even if it's high, we can estimate how many cases there really are. (Just like you can multiple the # of positive tests by about 10 to get the # of tests we're doing) Deaths per day is what you look at to see if we're really flattening the curve. I'd have to check, but I believe when you reach the point of it taking ~12 days for the deaths per day to double, then you're beginning the flattening.

Re: COVID-19
Working from home 2 days a week, 2 days of PTO (forced), and 1 day that essentially is a "sick" day each week.
No sports to score or broadcast = not a lot to prepare for around these parts.
We furloughed 70% of our Jacksonville office and we're working with a skeleton crew. Forget sports for watching, we need sports so people can eat.

Re: COVID-19
40% sounds very low to me. I get it, my mom turns 60 tomorrow and is a manager for Lowe's. She's 50+ hours a week right now. Apparently self-quarantine means paint/remodel your home.GeorgesGoons wrote: ↑Mon Mar 23, 2020 9:12 amKind of why I said these stay at home orders are meaningless. I'm not a fan of the way we're doing the stimulus at all. It should have been put in the pockets of the people with reduced or lost employment and small businesses. No need for someone like me, who can work remotely, with a reasonable income, to receive money. Had a full discussion on this with a bunch of friends over the weekend. Anything I receive is going straight to family in need. Don't get me started on the bullshit that is going on with round 2 of the package. Every idiot on either side of the aisle that is trying to pack this bill should be voted out. Ridiculous.

This week I will see if this whole thing hits me and my business.

Re: COVID-19
Have you come across anything in regards of testing time? Ive seen 24 to 48 hours some places, but 3-5 days elsewhere

Re: COVID-19
Same thing I've seen. I think it just depends on who's processing. The high-speed stuff for Labcorp/Quest is 24 or less. Where as the self developed of a place like the Cleveland Clinic is taking around 3.

Re: COVID-19
What is the death rate of this?
If my math is correct the world is ~4% and the US is ~1%. Why are we so much lower? Has that been discussed?

Canada is the first country to say no athletes will go to the Olympics. I think this is just the first Domino to fall before the games are cancelled completely.
Sucks for the athletes
