He has no midrange game at all.GeorgesGoons wrote: ↑Wed Feb 26, 2020 9:09 am Shel, I am sure you watch the most Pels games here. Does Zion shoot a jumper or just play down below? Not knocking it as I love it because it reminds me of old school low block play. He does seem to take a lot of plays off where he'll just stand on the weakside in nomans land and 1/2 the time not even crash to the boards on a shot. Maybe it was just last night
He's 42% on 3s this year, but only has taken 12.
He's essentially a mini-Shaq, if you will. That's probably the best way to describe him. He's only 6'6 but it doesn't matter, he's stronger and more athletic than any big trying to guard him. Even AD couldn't stop him last night.
Also, his offensive rebound rate is absurdly high for the season. He's actually not grabbing defensive rebounds at all, but that seems to be by design as they want him leading the transition more so than staying to grab boards.

Re: NBA Thread
That makes sense but I wonder how many points they could keep off the board if he didn't allow an offensive rebound by the opposing team.shel311 wrote: ↑Wed Feb 26, 2020 10:46 amHe has no midrange game at all.GeorgesGoons wrote: ↑Wed Feb 26, 2020 9:09 am Shel, I am sure you watch the most Pels games here. And only 6'6", i really thought he was 6'8" or 6'9"

Re: NBA Thread
Remember he's only averaging 28 minutes per game as they eased him back in early in the season and are only allowing him about 32 minutes now.GeorgesGoons wrote: ↑Wed Feb 26, 2020 9:36 am But crashing the boards should be his forte, he is averaging 7.1 boards as a PF
He is averaging 9 rebounds per 36 minutes.
He actually has 48 defensive rebounds and 44 offensive rebounds, which is unheard of to have nearly as many ORebs as DRebs.
A couple of stats I saw. He's shooting 57% from the field. The Pelicans get an offensive rebound on 46% of his misses, a good bit of those coming from Zion himself. And Zion gets the rebound and scores on 10% of his own misses, so he's essentially shooting nearly 70% from the field when you add that bit of context.

Just so you're aware, he's a 19 year old rookie and the 4th youngest player in the NBA who is off to literally the best start in the history of the NBA for a rookie.GeorgesGoons wrote: ↑Wed Feb 26, 2020 10:33 am

Re: NBA Thread
Yeah... I definitely don't understand the lack of Defensive Rebounds for Zion. To be fair, a lot of the great ones didn't play a ton of good defense at first, and even though it's past the all-star break, he doesn't have many games under his belt yet.
Shel, I never properly answered your question the other day... Zion definitely has the tools to be among the best ever... Does he have the heart, head or work ethic? Takes a while to figure that out, but I will say I'm extremely impressed with what I see so far. I thought Lebron was over-hyped and would end up being a bust, but he immediately came in and was making a difference. I thought Bron-Bron lacked the necessary killer instinct to be the best. I still see that lacking in him today... He often takes waaaay too long to take over a game. I'm impressed with Zion, the same way I was with Lebron... I was surprised to see Zion playing as hard as he is already. If that fire gets stronger as he gets more confidence, more tools and skills, and more maturity and just plain more polished... Wow. Time will tell, but the early stats line are sending quite an endorsement as a once in a generation player. Too early to call it of course, but if I were a betting man, and I am... I think we're looking at the air to Bron-Bron's throne. I'm a Sixer's fan, and I really thought/hoped it would be Ben Simmons, but there's a guy lacking the fire he needs to have to break through the top ranks... And damn it, please get a friggin 12 foot jump shot, and since you don't have a jumpshot and miss layups regularly, more slams please. Joel Embiid is certainly capable of being the next ONE, but he's tooo emotional and he can't stay on the floor long enough. Sad to say he's going to have a short career. So... I'm looking at Zion to say he's got a pretty good chance based on a very short but down right amazing body of work. And I'll state for the record... I am 100% a Duke HATER, and I didn't care for Zion a bit. I have enjoyed watching him play in the NBA though. A compelling story for sure.

Seems like a great guy but Anyone doubting anything about Lebron still is immediately placed on the pay no mind list

It's all part of "the game". Have you ever seen them both online at the same time?Cnasty wrote: ↑Wed Feb 26, 2020 12:28 pmI thought that as well but he couldn’t even figure out the blue text and doesn’t know how to post a gif so I immediately dismissed that shenaniganeryWasted Memory wrote: ↑Wed Feb 26, 2020 12:27 pm I'm starting to think that Billy has created a ghost account named JVFreakbody.

Heat with a big W tonight!
Re: NBA Thread
Pretty sure they’ve lost to 5 worst teams in league and are 4-0 vs Raptors and Bucks on year
