The good thing about Canadian schools. They have cameras in each classroom and I was able to find one of Nick working out the problem:

I can't watch the video right now but the explanation?

If I picked one number out of a million. Then you said either my number or another number is the right number, I'm switching to the other number every time.

3 doors, 2 have a goat 1 has the money. you pick a door he reveals a 2nd door with the goat and asks if u wanna switch to the 3rd door. I used to think it was 50/50 but after being explained to by the vid you have a 66% chance of hitting. it made sense. you 66% of the time pick the goat to begin with. they show the 2nd goat, leaving a 66% chance the unopened door is the money.

Yup. Always switch. I thought cougs example with the bigger numbers actually helps illustrate it well too.

yeah, i used the marble analogy to get my coworkers to understand. 1 black, 9 white. pick one at random. Now i get to look in the bag and eliminate 8 white, do you stick with your original marble or the one in the bag to get 1 black.

Your definition of discussions is twisted...

I just laugh when I have told people my example and they say "not the same". We had this discussion in my Methods class in undergrad and it made me laugh on how many math majors could not relate the concept to an expanded example. If you think you understand with 3 choices and you get lost completely with 1000000 and can't get a quick understanding how it relates, you just really don't get with 3. The real understanding comes not with the 1/3 vs 2/3, but that with the more choices given and limiting those choices to 2, the less chance you had at choosing the winner originally. Most of it gets lost in translation and words that some choose not to read and then make an ignorant statement.

I just watched the movie Interstellar for the first time, loved it. I am a sucker for space movies but I really enjoyed this one. I am sure the fact checkers tore it apart but I am nowhere near smart enough to get all of it and thought it was a great movie.

i get it, its not that tricky... i'm mostly just laughing at the explanations and the 'discussion' and mathematical dick measuring

I would just like if nick would put his personal feelings about me aside and actually read the post. Which that’s fine he doesn’t like me it’s whatever. I know math and I will toss my “math dick” out...

Probably not a lot of fact checking going on for movies about travelling through space in wormholes.
