As terrible as the return was for Luis Perez this Dan Page deal is fucking terrible. The two Ramirez's will never ever be remotely close to ML starters, the reliever is a dime a dozen AND he is taking back Sellers who was there for $1.... WTF you doing over there in Youngstown?

if you were cash strapped would you sell dan page (a solid but not spectacular 1B who is 30) for $25 million? Dude is a 2 WAR player which is average from what i can understand between the bickering on this board. The deal gets Youngstown under luxury tax threshold. it is huge.

no its not billy. he also dumped 5 of holman. also he was a mere 2 from the line so this would put him over the edge.

Holman was an asset too though. If the goal is to get below the luxury tax he could have moved Holman and Page, gotten way better prospects (or actual prospects at that) and not taken on Sellers. This trade is just terrible

I'm not sure what Billy is seeing with Page.

He's a shit player on a big contract, a huge liability. He is in no way a positive asset, not even close. And given his contract and the last 3 seasons of data, he's much more of a liability than Sellers.

Unless the only way for him to offload Page and Holman was to take on Sellers, then this is a pretty awful deal but people can run their franchise however they want. If it was purely about saving money, he could have at least tried to see if someone would claim Page or Holman on waivers or offer them up in a dollar deal. But based on the fact he offered me Holman for Bond which would worsened his luxury tax situation, I'm going with a man without a plan (for the time being)

I'm glad there was some excitement to talk about tonite.

I will simply ask what did I ever win with Perez and Page? Between those two, plus Holman and Gee .. I shed about $40+ million in contracts this year and next. I mistakenly thought you could win with a crazy good offense which I had in the past ... but with a miserable pitching staff, that was more or less a joke of a squad, I was still well in the basement. I have 2 more contracts I need to get out of and then should mostly be clear of the stupid signings I made... and hopefully dont repeat them.

Am the first to admit that I have made some really f'ing stupid contract decisions - and I needed to try to get out of them.
Page had one MVP like year for me a few seasons ago - but I don't feel he is worth what I was paying him.

I drafted both Page and Perez - which I guess I am proud of - but it never got me anywhere because of the other stupid contract offers I made.
My fault, but is what it is. I tried to trade Holman for 2 seasons and only had lukewarm interest from everyone when I made him avail. I also shopped Page around off and on for the last 2 years.

Jay only issue is you need to get more. Perez could have got you more then you got. When you have players like that you have to sell for more to help the rebuild. One guy won’t help your pitching or the rebuild.
