GeorgesGoons wrote:Tomorrow I have a demo at one of the largest furniture stores in America. They have 71 box trucks that they want cleaned twice a month, possibly more if I can sell them on it. They currently have a guy that does it now and does a good job but the paperwork is the issue with him. Guy charges for the same truck twice on the same trip. The paperwork is probably the easiest part of this job for me, I like to be very detailed.

The one downside with this account is they don’t have access to water so I have to bring it. Told him I would normally charge $75 to haul my own water but I cannot with this one as they would not pay for it. But this is just a step to a larger fleet account so I am thinking I should just suck it up on this one to secure the next.

They are only paying $15 per box truck, not having to be brushed just soaped and rinsed is all they want. Thinking of trying to talk them into doing it weekly for $12.50 instead of twice a month. This would increase annual revenue from ~$28K to ~$45K. If I can only get $10 per truck weekly that would be ~$36K, but I don't think I'd do it for under 12.50.
Learned a few things Saturday.

Tried the foam and dwell and then rinse off - 100% did not work
Tried the foam/dwell, brush and rinse - worked but time consuming
Tried foam, brush and then rinse - this is the only way to do it

So here is why I am using foam, water is the logistical nightmare for this job. If I downstream I use water, then I rinse. So I am using almost twice as much water going this route.

My son and I tried different techniques on 1 truck before we foamed it, brushed and then rinsed it. When we rinsed we opened up the downstream (put pick up line in a bucket of water) which helped save water by not pushing out the whole 4.7 GPM (I think). I didn’t have a 5 gallon pail with me so I can’t say how much water I am saving by doing this. It rinsed the soap off very well even though we weren’t getting the PSI and assuming the GPM (will have to do a test to see for sure).

Another thing we learned was that we used 40 gallons on the second truck and it took 18 minutes for my son and I to do. At that rate we would be able to do 13 trucks before we run out of water and it would take 4 hours to do these 13 trucks. And then to finish 71 trucks we would be right around 24 hours of labor. I need to figure out how to increase productivity because $45/hr doesn’t cut it for me.

So right now we are unsure if we are going to take on this account. With the 24 hours of labor we will also have 12 hours of travel and water fill up time. There is a fire hydrant near by so I am going to call the water company today and see if I can get a water meter. There usually is a deposit and rental fee. The water is priced by the 1000/gallons. But with a 2" opening I should be able to fill up my 525 gallons in under 10 minutes instead of the 90 - 120 minutes from the house.

The guy was extremely pleased with the results, I thought we could have done better.

meh, probably not. Although I did see the photo of him getting arrested. He isn't even 50 and looks awful.

Disney+ announced today.

$69.99 a year with 2 kids into Disney princesses and super heroes is a must buy. Looks promising content wise.

Take my money now!

If they actually put all their content on there, like HBO does for their series, I wonder if that will stunt sales of any other forms of their home media?

I expect they'll do this right and we'll also get "UHD" (as much as you can ever get for streaming) for most things moving forward and those that have already released versions in that format.

This will come around at the perfect time when we go internet only this fall after baseball season wraps up.

More details for Disney+ (from their twitter):

Entire Signature Collection on launch (their classic animation all the way back to the first releases)
Entire Pixar Collection at launch (minus Incredibles 2, Toy Story 4, and Coco which will come within the first year)
All Pixar shorts at launch
Marvel series to include: Wanda and Vision show, Loki show, Falcon and Winter Soldier show (rumored Hawkeye show), a "What If" animated series (first episode, what if Peggy Carter became Captain America)
Almost every Marvel movie (I would guess no Endgame yet - they confirmed Captain Marvel at launch).
All Star Wars films to roll out within first year of launch
Live action Lady and the Tramp (really?)
250 hours of content from NatGeo
5,000 episodes of shows from Disney TV channels
Every episode of The Simpsons exclusively streaming on Disney+ (because they bought Fox).

Pretty unreal - price point seems too good to be true for long. My Netflix subscription is moving up to $16 a month - will need to re-evaluate that.

Yea that price will definitely seem to climb as that’s a crap load of content for an amazing price.
Especially considering they are closing “The Vault” and going to this model.

Hell of a launch

YouTube TV increasing their price to $50/mo, which about prices me out. Gonna look into Sling, biggest downside is lack of local channels but I may have to get the ol' antenna out

I honestly only care about NBC Sports channel so I can watch soccer. I wish they would get their act together and fix nbc sports gold.

It's fun reading up on kodi these days tho and they are trying to combine all of them into 1 platform. So you log into them all and they are all combined... need to read up on more but it would make kodi useful to the masses again.

I mean I love YouTubeTV, but at $50 its probably a little steep for what we use it for. Essentially I watch live sports on the 4 locals and my wife watches Bravo. Occasional kids shows but Disney+ would more than make up for that
