College Football Thread
Re: College Football Thread
I only value that everyone playing have some chance at competing. If they don’t then they shouldn’t be playing in the same league/association as the other teams.
I also didn’t say I value record above all else, I think it’s fair to take other factors such as strength of schedule and margin of victory and other metrics into consideration but ultimately I can never feel comfortable with a sport that has team winning every game and not even sniff a chance to compete for the ultimate prize. The sport, imo, has always been broken. At least now we have 4 team which is 10000x better than the purely subjective crap we used to get force fed

Agree. It’s always been subjective and broken. This is better than it has been. Unless I’m 100% wrong and I could be. If CFB expands playoff without major changes I do feel conf would drop champ games and teams would schedule much weaker OOC games making CFB worse. With only 4 teams, the margin of error is small and I like that.

Re: College Football Thread
It’s a great day for college football.
Re: College Football Thread
Have to wonder if that newest “health” issue was a planted excuse to get him out at end of the year and make both sides look relatively good.
I can’t imagine he just hangs it up, maybe a year off then a special consultant to the Pats just in time to take over for BB

Re: College Football Thread
Completely agree, I think the backlash led to this “health” issue and this was planned all along. Either way there is more then enough in his career to show he does not need to be there anymore. Go to the NFL and nobody will care about anything

Just watch parts of the Buckeyes last 3 games... it's non-sense. WWE has better actors. Not saying he doesn't have issues, but that crap on the sidelines was absurd.

He will sign another family health “contract” with his daughter and be at USC 2020

Re: College Football Thread
i think we as outsiders also overrate division "strength". A ton of NFL talent is from D1AA schools or even mid majors in the NFL. Big Ben mac, David Johnson northern iowa, Carson Wentz, i could go on and on and on and on but you get the point.
I think as fans we see SEC and go "ahh they were recruited so superior" but end of day its mostly just 19-22 yr old kids same build who played some form of football growing up in their city.
Id love to see UCF play. Theyre the biggest campus in the US no? Statistically speaking they should have athlete walk ons by sheer volume of students. Why couldnt they hang with Bama and them? Cause they didnt get players with stars beside their name?
but im also stupid and just rambling.

you think recruits go to schools like Bama to win National Championships? Maybe some of them. I'd imagine the elite of the elite go there to get drafted
I's also love to see UCF get a shot. that said, I dont see them as being one of the 4 best teams
how many teams in the Top 10 (other than UCF) would have gone undefeated playing their schedule? how many of the top 20?
15 team of them?
just arguing a little

Re: College Football Thread
Mid majors should just have a 4 team tourney for a mid major title. who cares if its inferior to the D1 one, D1AA has one, every level does and those kids still brag about being a 2x or 3x champ. At least its something. UCF could be mid major champs, best of the D1.5's

I dont hate the idea...however, UCF is much more than a mid major.
I equate them to how Boise State was 5-10 years ago (not style wise obviously). Respectable and very dangerous.....

Way to go Kuyler
Went to high school about 10 miles away here in North Texas and arguably the best high school stadium in America.

Richt has like 2 verbal commits on offense for 2019.
The ship is sinking for poor Richt!!! Meanwhile, Georgia is on fire. Not a good look for him.

Re: College Football Thread
Dude is so out of touch with modern day college football its uncanny and his refusal to continue to call plays and not hire and OC is maddening.
He used Miami as a retirement home and its worked as they gave him an extension for no good reason and recruits want nothing to do with this lame ass offense and Diaz was the only hope for top defensive recruits.
