Going to 8 as you suggested will just shift the argument to which 2 wildcards get in. It doesn't actually stop any of the issues we have now.

You are never gonna have equality in CFB. I would not put UCF in over Washington and that’s what would have happened this year. PAC 12 champ left out over a AAC champ. Still will be bitching because of scheduling, conf, etc.

If you go to 8 teams, I still think you take the top 8 teams, no auto bids for winning a conference as that ignores 2/3rds of the season's out of conference games.

Also, I doubt they would, but if you got 8 and you keep the 1st round games at the top 4 seeds' stadiums, that would put an emphasis on playing for seeding and likely reduce some of that likely elimination of tough OOC matchups.

what they need to do is standardize scheduling. 9 game conference schedules. 1 FCS max, 1 Group of 5, 1 Power 5 minimum.

8 has its issues like everything but at least at that point you “shouldn’t “ ever have an issue where an undefeated team is left out. Looks like we value different factors in allowing teams in a playoff. When someone smarter than me finds a way to create all conf and schedules equal then I’ll value record over all else.
