Personally, I dont feel that they work properly in an online league setting. There are better alternatives then using the default comp pick system.

I hate compensation FAs so very much. Literally the worst thing in baseball.

Considering you can field a whole team (and a decent one) with the FAs every season I feel something is wrong. Would love to see comp picks go completely. They also be "gamed" a little as well.

Not having to worry about depth due to lack of injuries helps to leave a ton of guys as free agents who would otherwise be on a team.


Even if that wasn't part of it, I don't think we should change the comp pick rule, if teams don't take advantage of free agents, it's their loss.

I would agree if those guys didn't get signed immediately after the draft so guys don't lose a comp pick. Granted, I was tracking it for a few years. Hell a few years I even tried to offer contracts to guys the sim before draft hoping they'd sign the day after the draft. This tells me guys are hindered by the comp pick and not org depth.

Maybe that's not happening anymore but I know a few years ago I saw it a bit.

Thats exactly it. 75% of the time, people let FAs go to comp not because they cant resign them, but the return on them is too valuable to pass up. Either they get a comp 1st or they can resign them later in FA for much cheaper than offering them an extension.
