Guerrero, O'Reilly would be my guess without looking... Felt like everyone dropped 5-10 MOV points with the switchUuaww wrote:great movement guys don't exist. I think we have 1-2 blue rated SPs in movement?

Pitchers with 50-60 stuff, 60-70 mov and 75+ control have always been solid for me and always come pretty cheap

Great movement doesn’t have to equal blue Ted.

I know it's Captain Obvious to say overall is the best 1 indicator, but it is impressive how accurate overall is. My scout shows there are 11 SPs in the game with a blue overall rating. if you look at the top 9 SPs in the game last season by WAR, all 9 are blue SPs. Pretty impressive accuracy there.

1st player to come to mind that fits this mold perfectly is Bill O'Connor in his later years.qazhby wrote:Pitchers with 50-60 stuff, 60-70 mov and 75+ control have always been solid for me and always come pretty cheap

All teams in the AL East could finish above .500 while a team with a losing record could win the AL Central... Let that sink in

Miami Vice Newz - @MVice69420 - 1m
In one of the hardest preseason moves, Miami have demoted young up and coming IFA SP Lanny Johnston to A ball. He will pitch there for a few weeks before reporting to AA. Might end the year in the pros but "the vets won out" as one insider put it.

Really interesting article on the shift in MLB:
http://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/2426 ... ating-them
The gist of it is most people think the shift is slowing offense down and some even want the shift banned because of this. But the truth is just the opposite. While the shift is proven to work when guys hit grounders in the infield, these hitters surprisingly perform better at basically every other offensive category when the shift is on: doubles, triples, homers, walks.
Joe Maddon was either the first to use the shift or the one who really started using it the most early on seems to have caught on to this as the article says his Cubs now use the shift less than any team in MLB.

how does the shift affect if a hitter walks or hits a homerunshel311 wrote:Really interesting article on the shift in MLB:

Re: 2057 Season Thread.... Eff Yo Curse, Shock the World
Here you go
Even though the shift is good at gobbling up ground balls and line drives, it has the secondary effect of making pitchers throw more pitches out of the strike zone. They don't appear to be pitching to the shift -- by throwing more pitches on the inner part of the plate, for instance -- but merely pitching away from contact, nibbling more and throwing fewer fastballs. This all means more balls. More balls mean more walks, and they also mean more hitter's counts, which means more doubles, more triples, more home runs and fewer strikeouts.
"It's a subtle, marginal effect that produces an extra ball every few dozen pitches or so," Carleton wrote. "By focusing on BABIP, we missed the fact that the battle was already lost. The extra ball means that the count could have been 1-2, but instead it was 2-1.

In the 2nd game of the season my manager brought in Rivera for the save situation up 2. He leaves him in to give up 6 hits and a walk and 7 runs..... Lets shorten that leash a tad their manager guy
