They ran through the fence?
Genius
I expected some cartoon like cutout of their bodies in the fence.

I don't think they really wanted to break in though. If that was their intentions why not jump the fence so you don't alarm people. Either way it sucks waking up to that.Cnasty wrote:They ran through the fence?

Definitely need a hand gun, shotgun takes too long to get out of bag and throw some shells into it. Especially with me being gone 6 months out of the year, handgun would be much easier for the wife to handle. Or maybe get an AR-15, I know the wife knows that gun well since she was in the Army

I consistently battle gun or no gun in our home. 2 young kids and access to even get to it if something did go down and keeping it far enough from the kids to be safe has swayed me to no for now.

Problem solved. Biometric trigger lock. This would be the rout I go

Yea, we have one but for the safety of the kids it's kept in a safe. But if something happened in real time, who knows if we'd have time to even get it and/or use it.Cnasty wrote:I consistently battle gun or no gun in our home. 2 young kids and access to even get to it if something did go down and keeping it far enough from the kids to be safe has swayed me to no for now.

Yes that’s my battle as no way I’m getting in a safe fast enough but George’s solution looks perfect.shel311 wrote:Yea, we have one but for the safety of the kids it's kept in a safe. Re: Random Discussions
That biometric lock is nuts. I have much of the same concerns as Corey, but that lock seems to solve much of it

Re: Random Discussions
I use a biometric safe instead of a trigger lock.
But my thought was, with little kids, with a safe, the kids don't really see the gun and so there is not as much temptation as seeing a gun lying there with a trigger lock where they can still hold the gun and now they want to figure out how to get this trigger lock off.
Similar to this one: I had mine before they had bluetooth in them.
https://smile.amazon.com/Lightweight-Bi ... safe&psc=1
The one I linked to has a bluetooth app so you know if the safe is being tampered with. Not sure if it is worth it since Bluetooth is only 30 feet or so.
Since it stores multiple finger prints, I did a few of my fingers on each hand, that way, in an emergency situation, you don't have to think as much. Put a finger on the reader and in 1 second, it is open. My .45 is inside with no safety and the magazine loaded and ready to go.
I am waiting for wifi safes, so you could be alerted on an app, no matter where you are, that the safe is being tampered with. Put a gyroscope in it and as soon as the safe is moved, notify me.
If you have a bigger gun safe, they have alarms you can put in them that detects motion within the safe, so as soon as the door is open.

Nothing like seeing Floridians freaking out about a small drizzle of a wintry mix!
Kids were going nuts plying with it...ok I was too!!

Re: Random Discussions
The weirdest weather day I've seen so far in Texas was last year(2016) around Christmas time.
It topped out I think around 68 or so degrees during the day, and it was 18 degrees before midnight not even 10 or so hours later.
I took my boys downtown to see Santa, have some lunch and just walk around. We left it was around 65 and they had on long sleeve shirts. Not 2 hours later, it was about 45 and we had to leave early as we were underdressed for the weather. Not a good prepared Dady moment for me!!!
