Husker program has plenty of money. They could afford the highest college contract in the country. I think it's going to take $4-5m to get Hime out of UCF and Tennessee, Florida and the Huskers can easily afford thatWasted Memory wrote:I think you have rose colored glasses on.
I also believe there have already been talks. But from more schools than you think. And I'm not sure Nebraska can match the price these others schools can throw out there.

Still on cloud 9 today.

Re: 2017 College Football Thread
Reports last night that people in Mullen and Taggart camps expressed interest in Vols. I would absolutely love both. Mullen has proven his in game coaching ability and could recruit better in Knoxville. Taggart is an elite Florida recruiter who runs an exciting offense kids love.
I know they have interest in Frost but I don't see us blowing Florida away money wise and therefore he would likely take Florida job

Careful. You're going to upset George.wdoupis wrote: I know they have interest in Frost but I don't see us blowing Florida away money wise and therefore he would likely take Florida job
Florida has interest in all 3 of those as well. Taggert has already said he's not going anywhere, coach speak I'm sure though. Mullen's wife has stated she hated living in Gainesville. Personally, I think I prefer Mullen over Frost. He's proven himself a bit more than Frost has IMO.

recruiting is only half the battle. Callahan was an amazing recruiter for the Huskers. He just couldn't teach the kids up to their potential.wdoupis wrote:Reports last night that people in Mullen and Taggart camps expressed interest in Vols. I would absolutely love both. I don't see Frost going anywhere except the Huskers (if he leaves UCF).
Frosty’s big thing,” says Johnson, the defensive coordinator at Northern Iowa and an old running mate of Nebraska alum/favorite son/alleged coaching target Scott Frost, “and he’s said it publicly and he’s said it privately, is that, ‘Sometimes, people get in too big a hurry to go places when they’ve got it pretty good where they’re at.

Re: 2017 College Football Thread
Yeah Mullen is my top choice as well. I don't buy that Taggart not going anywhere stuff as we hear it all the time.
As for George recruiting is half the battle but if you are equal at developing then that half is the difference. I think Frost would choose Florida over Nebraska every time if money is equal as it's such an easier job to succeed at.

Re: 2017 College Football Thread
Hopefully we shall see in 2 weeks when Riley is fired. The crazy thing about this time around as a Husker fan there aren't any leaks from the Regents this time like the Solich firing, Callahan hiring/firing and Pelini hiring. With the lack of leaks this time it may be a sign that we are stuck with Riley because the university doesn't want to fire him or Frost wants to stay at UCF for the time being. It's been a hard time rooting for these Huskers over the past decade and a half, but continue I will!wdoupis wrote:Yeah Mullen is my top choice as well. Trust me, I get that. TN has been a shit show since I went there so all the glory days they refer to I didn't give a shit about.
You never know how much coming home means to Frost so keep hope alive

And it doesn't matter if a good coach goes there, players don't give a shit about going there.

In his last 6 games, a half of a freaking season, he's had 387 yards rushing, 3.8 YPC. He's topped 100 yards once barely, 108 yards.wdoupis wrote:There is not even at argument to be made that Barkley is not the best RB in the country
He's not the clearcut best RB in the nation with Jonathan Taylor and Bryce Love going nuts like they are. FWIW, best RB in the nation and best NFL prospect are 2 different things. Guice can't really be in the real conversation since he was hampered badly for 4 games, but I have little doubts if he wasn't, his numbers for the season rushing would dwarf Barkley(he already has more yards on less carries now) and his yards from scrimmage would be in Barkley territory as is.
Barkley is fantastic, and he's also severely overrated. Early in the season, I saw a whole lot of agreement that he was the best RB since Adrian Peterson which is just silly.
