Pretty crazy that he's living a modest lifestyle now, 2 bedroom apartment living.

Maybe it only applies if you're still in the process of planning to commit the murder?DRiccio21 wrote:isn't there a charge called conspiracy to commit murder? isn't he admitting to that?
Just seems like something you don't want to admit. If that dude is that shady, there's probably a few dudes who want him dead, and one day, he may end up dead, and Portis is the lead suspect right away. Portis ain't the sharpest tool in the shed though.

It does seem like he is admitting some guilt, still crazy how easily some of these dudes get swindled w these "investments"
Re: NFL Thread
I mean he said he drove to the guys office and had a gun, didn't he? that's pretty closeshel311 wrote:Maybe it only applies if you're still in the process of planning to commit the murder?DRiccio21 wrote:isn't there a charge called conspiracy to commit murder? isn't he admitting to that?

it's not nearly as difficult as you'd think.packsyd2284 wrote:It does seem like he is admitting some guilt, still crazy how easily some of these dudes get swindled w these "investments"
99% of people have no idea what they're investing in when they invest.

Well that's frightening to hear but I dunno, don't you check your bank statements and see yourself a mill or two short? I don't know never gonna have that problem to deal with lolDRiccio21 wrote:it's not nearly as difficult as you'd think.packsyd2284 wrote:It does seem like he is admitting some guilt, still crazy how easily some of these dudes get swindled w these "investments"

Re: NFL Thread
lot of the types of investments these guys have aren't liquid or have a value that you can easily check. lets say you give your buddy 10k to help him open a restaurant. its not like you know how much that 10k is now worth on a day to day basis. the restaurant could do great and it might be worth 20k or the restaurant could go out of business and you'd go from thinking you invested 10k to losing it all.
most of these guys just take advice from dudes they think care about them and they are lining their own pockets. if the deal actually works everyone is happy but when it doesn't the only person losing anything is the investor. you shouldn't ever give your money to anyone you don't know or trust and imo should never invest in anything that isn't liquid. people get sold on nonsense and predators prey on their greed. the truth is people know so little about how to manage money that anyone with a clue could probably make you believe something that isn't true just by understanding how to prey on your insecurities and greed.

I could imagine, I guess I care about my money too much to buy into peoples BS.DRiccio21 wrote:lot of the types of investments these guys have aren't liquid or have a value that you can easily check. lets say you give your buddy 10k to help him open a restaurant. its not like you know how much that 10k is now worth on a day to day basis. the restaurant could do great and it might be worth 20k or the restaurant could go out of business and you'd go from thinking you invested 10k to losing it all.

My roommate invested 12K in a restaurant 4 years ago that just closed 2 weeks ago. Kind of the same deal. Just closed the doors w out telling him/keeping him in the loop and lost all his money on it. I guess I would want to be directly involved if it was something like that, I don't trust a lot of people to work as hard at things as they say they are......

He invested 4 years ago, and didn't receive any money in 4 years? Sheesh.
Re: NFL Thread
there aren't many people who 'don't care about their money' or are open to 'buying into peoples BS'. if you aren't educated on stuff then it's easy to be swindled even if you think you've done your homework.packsyd2284 wrote:

if you have extra money, you are going to need a place to put it. most people don't want to keep 20 mil in a checking/savings account not growing. once you start to invest, things might start off smooth and seem normal then you build up trust then you get ripped off. It happens to the brightest people on earth. its not really something you can prevent, necessarily. you can't manage all your own money hands on if you have a lot of it.

Yea pretty crazy. He was a server/manager at the first one (Big Wangs, yes that is the name haha) and it did really well. They made a second one and it always seemed like a good crowd not sure why it closed. I ask him questions and he is not real knowledgeable on any of it, which was my point to Dave. How do you not know more about a business you put that much money into? I dunno.......shel311 wrote:He invested 4 years ago, and didn't receive any money in 4 years? Sheesh.
