Adam Silver doesn't seem to have much of any backlash or detractors.
Re: MMA / UFC - Official Thread
i have no issues over any other commish. not even Goodell (well maybe a little Goodell)Cnasty wrote:Is there a head of any league in the world that anyone overwhelmingly likes?DRiccio21 wrote:Dana White is a complete piece of shit. so i'm all for the fighters on just about every stance there is
I can't think of one.
I guess the NBA and MLB guys are pretty new to say if anyone loves or hates them yet.
Dana White did some deals with us a few years back and he's just a bad man. He hangs with thugs and acts like one. and he treats his fighters like slaves.

Re: MMA / UFC - Official Thread
im convinced Goodell is a puppet of the owners just to take shit.

Re: MMA / UFC - Official Thread
McGregor tweets that he is back on UFC 200 card. No official word from Uncle Dana. If we can get that fight back on and DC vs Jones the card would be stacked.
Jones looked way too tentative against OSP. It's a good thing he got a warm up before the LHW championship.
The Steele vs Roberts fight on the undercard was my favorite fight on UFC 197. I thought Steele won but could understand why the outcome went the way it did.
Cuedo needed a couple more fights before getting in there with DJ. I find it annoying how DJ has changed his persona. He went from the non bragging type to saying he is the best pound for pound fighter. It doesn't fit his personality.

Re: MMA / UFC - Official Thread
Everybody is saying that about Jones, and I agree, but I also think OSP had something to do with that, He is pretty good, very athletic, he was just fighting one of the best. I thought JJ realized that, knew he could pick and choose his spots and still win and decided to play it safe to make sure he gets the DC fight. Just my thought on the fight.GeorgesGoons wrote:McGregor tweets that he is back on UFC 200 card. No official word from Uncle Dana. Re: MMA / UFC - Official Thread
I enjoyed the Rodriguez - Fili fight as well.
As for DJ, I'm a huge fan and have been for some time. The fact is, he's not just extremely talent physically, but he executes his game plans perfectly. I don't have any issue with him saying he's the best P4P, he's 125 and dominating his division... is there really any argument there? P4P discussions will almost always sway to the most dominant little man, that's why they exist. The thing is, Jon Jones has been so good that people consider him the best in the world regardless of weight. (I'm one of those, even though I also admit he looked a little off this weekend) Credit to OSP, probably one of the most physically gifted fighters in the UFC. I think he landed some shots in the 1st and 2nd that made Jones fight the way that he did. Hopefully OSP learns from this fight and gets even better. He's come a long way in a short time already.

Re: MMA / UFC - Official Thread
Jon Jones is the argument. But I do agree, DJ is on a completely different level than the rest of the 125'ers. I just didn't like how he was extremely humble just 2 years ago to trying to become the new McGregor in terms of talking himself up. I don't think that is who he is and it shows, at least to me I can see thru it. He has the least drawing power from a title holder, and that holds his paychecks back so he has to do something to get people to talk about him. I just don't think it's genuine with him to trash talk or boast.ReignOnU wrote:I enjoyed the Rodriguez - Fili fight as well.

Forgot about the Rodriguez - Fili fight, that one was fun to watch as well.
Those kicks that Pettis took, no clue how he was standing in the 4th and 5th rounds. I would have thrown up had I got kicked in the leg like that.

Re: MMA / UFC - Official Thread
I don't think anything he said was near what Conor says. It was a short and straight forward post-fight interview with Rogan. He said he nailed Cejudo with a knee and heard him go 'urgh' and knew he wasn't going to back off. Then he clearly stated that he's the best pound for pound fighter in the world and that he was going to continue to keep proving it. There wasn't a ton of side show and flair with it. Just a straight forward statement. Seems like you're trying really hard to hate him.

He's been on the Rogan experience where he has talked a little more. It's not as brash as Conor but it's also not the DJ we have known over the years as well.ReignOnU wrote:I don't think anything he said was near what Conor says. Really not a fan of the weight division, and he falls in it. To me it is extremely boring to see where nobody can end a fight with one punch (minus Dobbs but he is up at 135 now and was annoying as fuck). He is the best in the division and it isn't even close. It would be like putting Curry on a JV basketball team right now, that's how far and ahead DJ is in that division.

Re: MMA / UFC - Official Thread
That part I can agree with it. I've be perfectly happy if they kept the 15lbs increments that they have between most weight classes and just made it 155, 140. I know why they went 145, 135 and 125... but going 125 was taking it a step too far. This is dangerously close to Hornswoggle vs Dink the Clown.

125 is like watching midget wrestling at a carnival, but with extremely gifted athletes. But, midgets all the same.ReignOnU wrote:That part I can agree with it. Re: MMA / UFC - Official Thread
Rumor is the only thing holding back GSP from coming back is the Reebok deal. UFC needs to realize this was a deal across the board for all fighters before people start to jump ship when they are still in their prime.
I am really hoping the UFC adds DC/Jones to UFC 200.
This is what the card would look like:
DC/Jones
Tate/Nunes
Aldo/Edgar
Diaz/McGregor (if Conor's tweet is to be believed)
Velasquez/Browne
Mussasi/Brunson
Hendricks/Gastelum
Lauzon/Sanchez (would definitely be fight of the night if this card was weaker)
Gomi/Miller
Zingano/Pena
Northcut/Marin

ESPN is saying the ufc could be out $45m without Conor on the card. That's a lot of freaking money

A decent night of fights. Maia solidified why I am not a fan of him. He is a beast when it gets to the ground but it's boring to me. Cyborg looked good at 140, I was hoping she said she would get to 135 for a title fight but she said she will do catch weight fights. Jacare looked like a beast!ReignOnU wrote:Spoiler!
