PS4 Power Supplies

Post by Wasted Memory »

Anyone had to replace theirs?

Hadn't used my PS4 in a couple months, went to turn it on and it just immediately dies. Get the blue light for just a second. Googled it and everything seems to point toward the power supply being dead. Options are sending it in to Sony or just replacing myself. Watched some video's on it and I consider myself tech savvy enough to not think it'll be an issue, just wanted to see if anyone else has gone through this yet.

Replacing the power supply didn't look too bad, but I opted to get another unit.

With that said, try pushing down hard on the back of the PS4 and start it up. It worked for me for a good 2 months.

So I know this is old, but I'm in need of some technical support. Caved in a bought a PS4 today, I'm usually a Microsoft guy but I'm done with their bullshit of no baseball game for the last several years. To my story, bought this thing, took it home, plugged in and got all set up, 20 minutes it powers off, wont power back on. I get a blue light for about 4 seconds, 1 beep, then shuts off. Ballgame. Took it back, got a 2nd one, exact same story, took it back, 3rd PS4 today, not sure if I should even try. Simply googling "my ps4" is instantly finiches with won't turn on. I can't conclude if it's an HDMI problem or what but it seems to be a very common problem. Suggestions, ideas?

If your ps4 doesn't display a red light than try this.

turn off your ps4 completely. no lights on.

Press and hold the power button for 10seconds or more until you hear 2 beeps.

Follow the instructions on screen
Select the restore option and follow the instructions.
Don't unplug your ps4 during this.

That was 1 thing I read online.

You mentioned a power supply, they are internal on PS4's, that is why it takes a regular power cord.
Have you tried a different plug? Have you tried to plug it directly into the wall if you are using a power strip?

Here is another post about it:
I fixed this problem it should work for the 1 beep blue light then powers off..

1. Take the top off the ps4

2. Remove the screws 2 tension screws to the heat sink.

3. Get 2 neoprene washers per screw and place them on the screws. I had a bunch left over from the Xbox 360 X clamp fix

Put the 2 screws back ( DON'T TIGHTEN THE SCREWS ALL THE WAY!!!)

4. This is where you have to tweek it until the system powers up.

5. Start kind of tight. If it doesn't come on then loosen. ( IT WILL WORK!!!)

Personally, if you bought it from a place like GameStop, I would say just take it back till you get one that works as they will take care of you until you do.
If these are new then I highly doubt 2 systems would be bad out of the box.
