2015 MLB Thread
Re: 2015 MLB Thread
I read an article about a proposition that is gaining traction, about a binary ballot.. Player X.. yes or no? 75% in, less than out. One and done, no restrictions or limits.. with the changes that have already been made in the process trying to fix the situation, I could see that coming into play 10 or so years down the road

Actually, yes. The 1st step of my voting is to find the PM I sent Bernie the previous season and copy/paste the guys still on the ballot that I voted for in the previous year. I may not have done it years and years ago, but i've settled on that process over the past 5+ or so seasons ago so I can remain consistent.dakshdar wrote:If you vote for a guy in his first year have you always voted for him every year after that until he got it or fell off the list?
THere's definitely the possibility of guys falling off thus making room for Piazza on ballots, but I think it's more of what Bernie said about specific unwritten rules about 1st ballot guys and 2nd/3rd/4th ballot guys, which just annoys me.

In our world it's easy to imagine a owner not caring enough to remember who they voted last year and having a slightly different votedakshdar wrote:Why does any HOF voting change after the first year a player is elligible? Same could be asked for NDLOOTP hall of fame. If you vote for a guy in his first year have you always voted for him every year after that until he got it or fell off the list? I really think Bonds and Clemens both won't get in until their 10th ballot. The writers' way of punishing them. "We'll show them!" kind of thinking. Just their way of trying to uphold the "integrity" of the game while also acknowledging the fact that they deserve to be there. But who knows... they both gained roughly 10 points this year and the way the talking heads are talking about it, it may happen earlier.shel311 wrote:Actually, yes. In OOTP... even systematically, I think I've done both.dakshdar wrote:Why does any HOF voting change after the first year a player is elligible? Same could be asked for NDLOOTP hall of fame. Here's my reasoning. I make my list of players in season 1 (starting point). My list may have 10 guys on it. Of those 10, 1 gets in. The next year, I find that there at 2 guys very worthy of getting in. I now I have to drop 1 from my previous year's ballot, assuming both of these 2 players are better.
In the other scenario, I have 10 guys on my list in season 1. 3 get in. The following class is a turd and I don't add anyone else. I can now add guys that I didn't vote for in the previous season.
Beyond those 2 specific examples... there's also the idea that you get talked into voting a guy in. Whether from hype or from looking at their career information in a different light. (In OOTP sense, Thomas and Wu for some people)

For the record... doing it this year in OOTP.
Roger Peterson was on my ballot last year. We put in 2 guys last season. That left 2 new spots and there are 3 guys from this class that I'm voting for. Peterson gets left off.

I think it's cool they are considering allowing him to have his hat backwards on the plaque.
Very progressive for a stoic sport.

True. I was thinking they had their star type logo on the back, but it's just the MLB one with their colors, which wouldn't show on the plaque. Good calldakshdar wrote:If it's backwards, will we ever know?
