This isn't a Josh Donaldson from Oakland to Toronto situation so I don't think he's going to be quite a "beast" but certainly solid regular. I'd imagine both Cincy and CHW have top 5 stadiums for power hitters. Good enough deal for both ChiSox and Dodgers, weak for the Reds

Never heard/known the Chi Sox to have a top 5 power hitting stadium.....

has there been talk of Tim Anderson going to CF? He's played nothing but SS in the minors and it's not exactly a smooth transition from SS to CF..

edit: damn guess so.

Though Anderson has the athleticism, actions and arm strength needed at shortstop, it's not a given that he'll remain at the position. He lacks soft hands and still is figuring out his footwork after making 34 errors in 81 games last season. If he can't cut it as an infielder, he has the tools to profile well as a center fielder.

Billy Hamilton made the transition from SS to CF, but they worked on that for awhile in the minors.

I'm a really big fan of Todd Frazier, the person. Having seen the way he handled himself from the time he was with the Dayton Dragons all the way up, he's a great person. With that said, I'm fairly indifferent on Todd Frazier the baseball player. Yes he made the All-Star team, but if you look at his stats, he's really not a 'great' player. Most of my local friends are Reds fans and they are going nuts on social media about the deal. While I'm not a huge fan of what they got in return, mostly because it's really 1 good prospect and 2 guys that are unlikely to ever matter, I'm not mad about the trade. Financially, the Reds weren't going to keep him for the long run.

Jose Peraza is obviously the key piece for Cincinnati. He's still very young (21) and is already hitting .300 in AAA. He needs to work on his overall approach at the plate, to increase his OBP, so he can use his speed on the bases. His defense is above average at both positions as well.

The only thing that I really don't like about the deal is that the Reds are likely leaning on Eugenio Suarez at 3b. At first look, he produced good numbers when Cozart went down with an injury. But he's never had those kind of numbers at any level in the minors. I see him as a utility IF at best. Cincinnati really doesn't have a legit 3B in their minors right now.

Not that it matters, because with this massive youth movement, the team isn't likely to be relevant until 2018 at the earliest.

It could be they were voting other guys in like Randy Johnson, Smoltz, etc that they now have free spots open for Piazza. BBWAA also removed a lot of old voters' credentials from what I understand, maybe they were the ones keeping his pct. down, some voters like to distinguish between first-ballot HOF'ers and second and so forth, and he had that PED "suspicion" over him. Guys like Blyleven went from 17% their first year and made it in on final year. I'm just hoping Raines makes it in next year.

Why does any HOF voting change after the first year a player is elligible? Same could be asked for NDLOOTP hall of fame. If you vote for a guy in his first year have you always voted for him every year after that until he got it or fell off the list? Have you never voted for a guy his second year after not voting for him in the first?

It's what happens when humans are part of the decision making process: Things just make less sense.
