So hard to watch.

My two least favorite players in the NFL are Jimmy Clausen and Jay Cutler. They both play Quarterback for my team.

Supposedly, Pro Football Focus gave Rodgers an overall negative grade for last night's game.

grading football is incredibly subjective. they do a nice job of trying to objectify it, but by the nature of their scoring, its still opinion based.

i like the site but i don't put a ton into it.

I'm nitpicking, and I"m sure they know more than me, but it seems silly to get a zero grade for these. I get not getting a touchdown quality grade, but he still makes a quick read and has to get the ball to the WR in a position that allows him to make a play. Seems like he should get some kind of credit.
The other three touchdowns, however, were passes thrown short of the end zone on speed outs to Randall Cobb. Were they bad throws? No, they were expected throws with the credit going to Cobb for fighting through contact or defeating the coverage with speed to the edge. That makes these zero-graded throws: Three passes that have a massive effect on Rodgers’ statistical performance but do not increase his grade.

Does the grading take into account Rodgers maybe getting into that play call at the line and getting his team in a better position to score. For all they know the play call was a run and then Rodgers called an audible.

they discuss that in the article.

they only grade based on post snap information.

he certainly still needs to make the read regardless of how 'simple' it seems so i have a hard time giving him little to no credit for that.

Yep. And he has to put the ball in a spot that allows Cobb to get up field quickly. He could be inaccurate, but Cobb could still catch the ball, but then has no time to make a move and is tackled immediately. Seems like he should get a little something for it.

I get not giving him full credit for a TD for a short pass where Cobb does the bulk of the work on YAC, but he has a part in putting Cobb in the position to do so.

If Rodgers makes a terrible pass that Cobb has to spin around to catch and totally lose his momentum going forward, but still manages to break 2-3 tackles and scores, it may make more sense. The TDs I remember, that didn't happen, they were well thrown short passes.

All three of us are agreeing. The world is ending.

Since December 3rd, 2012 at Lambeau Field, Aaron Rodgers has thrown 47 TD passes and 0 INTs.
