$15 if you want the club tracking. Free otherwise. There's a 1-3 round free sample of the advanced stuff too. You can choose when you use that free test drive too.

sounds very similar to golflogix which i already use.

enter your score, putts, fairway yes/no and a few other things if you choose. gives you overhead view of hole and distances. only thing it seems like yours does that mine doesn't is the dynamic distance if you want to check a spot on the hole. after each hole i also need to click 'next hole'. not sure if your app auto assumes you're on the next hole cause of GPS like some of the cart GPS systems do.

i was using it at the beginning to track stuff but it becomes too much of a pain and i ended up just keeping a regular scorecard and then just putting the amount of putts i took in a little number in the box. then after the round i'd go in to input my scores/putts.

arccos you don't do any of that. it just tells you 'you hit 6 iron 165 yards on avg that round' etc. because of the sensors in the club.

Yeah, GolfLogix and SwingBySwing are basically the same. The "distance to" feature is part of the paid stuff.

I really like the idea of Arccos, but the little club caps seem odd. I feel like I'd screw those up somehow. Having played many years of softball, I've got a bad habit of my lefty pinky finger being all the way at the back edge of the club.

i've read a million reviews and i haven't heard anyone complain about the nobs being a distraction or in the way or coming off.

the criticisms i've read are sometimes it messes up with putts, but that seems like a pretty simple thing to go back in and fix

Went out this morning, and something I'm having issues with is my distance. I'm hitting pure, better shots morethan I ever have, and I'm finding out it's adding distance. no surprise there, but going through the process of recalibrating in my head which club to use at what distance has been frustrating. Today I hit the ball really, really well by my standards but ended with an average score because so many of my approaches went longer than usual

That arccos gizmo looks slick as shit

I'm confused with that app though, how does it differentiate between a practice swing? Also says other platforms are on the way, not sure how long that means though

Yeah, anything that impacts distance like that can be a real pain to get used to. For me, it was tough because if I trusted the "new" yardage, I found my self trying to overpower the swing to "force" the new yardage. When I was skeptical of the yardage, I'd hit it pure and fly the target. So much mental stuff in this game. Thankfully, I'm at a place right now where I do "think" much while I'm swinging.

Interesting alternative to Arccos for Android users. Looks like it doesnt have the auto-detect feature and instead you need to tap the sensor to the phone for each shot. Likely more cumbersome, but its also only 25% the price of Arccos too

I like it. I don't think tapping the phone is that inconvenient, considering you can leave the phone in your pocket and you can tap it through your clothes. How does it know where the shot ends? Next tap for next club? How does it know when the hole is over? Tap from putter, then next tap from the following tee club?

I'm going to look into this some more today. My wife has been killing me about picking out a birthday present for her to buy and this seems like a nice affordable option if it works well.

It knows where the shot ends by tapping the next club. For holes, it detects the tee shot apparently. In reading a bit more about it, a guy posted the data from one of his rounds earlier this year.

Finally pulling the trigger on my new irons. I've had the same irons (Mizuno Comp EZ) since 8th grade (insert "you haven't grown" jokes here). I like them, but it's time for an upgrade.

I'm getting the Mizuno MP 64's. http://www.mizunousa.com/golf/products/ ... W79dc9VhBc

Probably the sweetest swing/feel I've held. I've wanted a set like these for quite some time.

Got my fitting scheduled for Friday morning at 8am. Never had a fitting before, but decided since I was going to be ponying up for expensive clubs, I may as well get them fit properly. Plus, since my wife works for the Tour I get a discount on special orders from the Sawgrass pro shop, along with a discount on the fitting at the TP Performance Center. No better time than now to do it.

They said it's gonna take about 3 hours, which seems long, but they do a lot of analysis with the trackman system and probably talk a bunch. Fine by me, if I gotta pay all that money, I might as well get my money's worth.

Only thing that sucks is that the clubs will likely not come in until after I leave for Senior Open, which means I'll be gone for about 20 days, then home for about 4 (try to play during that 4) and then back on the road for 10 more for Women's Open. Worst time of year, but at least I'll have something to look forward to when I get back!

Im kinda the same way, but IF it works as well as they make it look in the video (tapping through the pants) then the tapping becomes a non-issue for me. It beats the belt sensor that gamegolf uses, I cant be wearing that shit, it makes my gear look bad!

for me it'd be like this:

- use it all the time at first for like the first 6 or 7 rounds
- then start forgetting to take my phone with me to my shot and being too lazy to go back to cart
- phone dies on course
- i never use again

with other one i literally can't fuck it up cause i do nothing but play.

i'm torn. 99 bucks is cheap enough that if it sucks i wont feel THAT bad if i don't get a ton of use out of it.

4.6 rating on the app store... and it looks like does everything that I've been manually doing with SBS. It does track distance based on next tap, so you do need to tap it with the putter. It finishes a hole by recognizing that you're on the next hole with the GPS system. The 1 thing that it's going to lack will be the ability to track the distance of the last putt on each hole... which I personally don't care about, but could be a "nice to have" kind of thing.

I'm going to look at it some more between meetings later (or during, lol). One question I'd like to know is how does it factor in a shanked shot OB or a chunked shot, for your average distance on a club? If you hit 5 8i 150-155, then chunk 1 about 30, will that 30 get factored in and skew your "real" distance?

The phone thing is definitely a non-issue. Maybe this is dumb logic, but I'm a taller guy and my phone fits comfortably in my pocket, so it doesn't interrupt my play. If anything, I may have to kill some stuff like email updates/notifications prior to the round, so I don't get distracted on the course. But I can live with that. As for tapping it, the club is already close as I'm getting into my natural stance for practice swings, so I just tap it during a practice swing, as not to interfere with my actual hitting routine.

Will be curious to see what they say about some of the stuff you guys are talking about too (average distance, etc). I haven't played enough recently to really "know" my distances as well as usual.

Does this new app work for apple AND android? or just android?
