Re: NFL Thread
My guess is that the the draft picks hit is a lifetime achievement punishment.

Probably the perfect amount of time to groom Garrappolo to be the heir apparent and just have another decade of dominanceReignOnU wrote:Pats 3-1 while Brady is out... and he returns against... the Colts.

Re: NFL Thread
Especially since, from what I understand, the Wells Report exonerrated the organization, put it all on Brady and the 2 equipment guys. And yet the NFL used something along the same line as "lack of institutional control", so I'm not sure what they based that on since their own report says otherwise, unless I'm wrong there.packsyd2284 wrote:Taking away the draft picks I just don't understand at all.

You still have 2 team employees actively breaking NFL rules. They had to punish the team.shel311 wrote:Especially since, from what I understand, the Wells Report exonerrated the organization, put it all on Brady and the 2 equipment guys. That would be like not punishing the Falcons for the noise pumping thing and just fining and suspending the people involved, or just suspending Ray Farmer for texting to the sidelines and not punishing the Browns as a whole.
Even if the org didn't know about it, they're still responsible for their employees

Re: NFL Thread
I understand the picks, but the severity I"m guessing is somewhat based on their past reputation and since they appear to have publicly caught them this time, they're piling on from past issues.packsyd2284 wrote:Taking away the draft picks I just don't understand at all.
It seems like they jumped on them because they "finally got them" if you will.

Yeah, I saw the Fowler thing while I was in the airport. That looked nasty. Not even an hour into his first minicamp. The guy blocking him was crushed, Fowler called him and was telling him not to worry about it. I like the kid.
Hopefully he can come back strong from the injury. I still like the draft, Daniel. Just....sucks.

Just for insight on my comment... if you didn't know... Bell is out for the game and NE is expected to release Kyle Arrington, leaving Logan Ryan as their only CB with much experience. We're going to find out how good Belichik's system really is.

Re: NFL Thread
i dont understand Shels side. Is he saying cheating's okay? Cause Indy gave the refs a heads up about this cheating before the game and NE still cheated and did it.

1. Penalty is way too harsh.
2. The league exonerated the organization, or the Wells report did I should say, but the organization was still fined and had a draft pick taken away.

Re: NFL Thread
I really don't know all of the facts here, but I believe this is what I heard today...
- The Pats "probably" cheated intentionally
- Tom Brady has some very sketchy text messages to the ballboy (read some of them)
- However, the ref admitted that there were 2 different pumps/needles that measured differently during pregame
- Ref could not confirm that he used the same needle for both measurements, but "believes that he probably" did
4 games, $1m and 2 draft picks is pretty steep for "probably."

Arrington is almost certainly going to be resigned.ReignOnU wrote:ReignOnU wrote:DRiccio21 wrote:Garrapolo will still throw for 350 vs the Steelers.

And, not to be coy, but I don't think any of us need to wonder how Belichick's system is going to be.

I think a "probably" would've worked here too.trendon wrote:Arrington is almost certainly going to be resigned.ReignOnU wrote:ReignOnU wrote:DRiccio21 wrote:Garrapolo will still throw for 350 vs the Steelers.
