Re: MMA / UFC - Official Thread
He is legitimately that good. I think part of it is that MMA fans do not tend to gravitate to the lower weight classes like boxing fans have in recent years. 145-155 simply don't draw like 170+. When I think about the guys that my friends like, who are casual mma fans, it's GSP, Silva, Jon Jones, Rampage, Lesnar, Cain, Weidman, etc. As for guys 155 and under that they recognize, the list is pretty limited to Aldo, Edgar, and Faber (maybe a couple others).
I actually haven't seen the fights from Saturday yet. I was tied up over the weekend and I haven't looked for a place to download it. After reading match recaps, I'm not so sure that I care to see more than 2-3 of the fights.

Definitely don't waste the 4 hours to get thru all of them. Wasn't worth itReignOnU wrote:

Loved the card this weekend, but who deserves the next shot at the Middleweight belt?
Honestly I think it should Souza. Granted Rockhold was impressive, but given the longer win streak and already being the #1 ranked contender I think it would be flat out wrong to pass over Souza.

I'd give it to Rockhold. The last man to beat Jacare was Rockhold. I'd argue that Rockhold has had a much tougher lineup of opponents. Souza's only notable win, imo, was a late 3rd round submission of Mousasi. Rockhold's only loss since beating Souza was the spinning kick from Belfort, which was a bit of a fluke. Rockhold has finished some pretty darn good competition recently.

I say let them fight again to see who gets it.

I think Rockhold would finish him by the end of the 2nd. Jacare is good, no doubt, but Rockhold was an absolute monster this weekend. (all kinds of ped rumblings going on)

Re: MMA / UFC - Official Thread
Rockhold should get the next shot. But I have have a feeling if Vitor wins in a close match there will be a rematch and then Rockhold and Jacare can fight to see who faces the winner of the second fight.
This card delivered this weekend.
I was happy that PVZ shut up Herrig. I think the next most logical match up for her is either to fight the Moroz or Albu from the Poland card. I'd like to see her fight Thug Rose but she has a fight coming up and it would take to long to see that.
Max Holloway is the real deal. He needs a top 5 opponent next. Every time he steps into the octagon he looks leaps and bounds better than the last time he fought.
Dariush should see a tough opponent his next time out. He is like Holloway, he just looks better every time he steps in to fight. I think he can legitimately challenge for the title within 2 years. His ground game is world class and his stand up isn't something to overlook either.
I was not impressed with OSP. He looked out of shape or wasn't conditioned right. Something seemed off. He was lucky that shot landed when it did. He was about to start a long night of getting owned in the wrestling world.
Aljamain Sterling was impressive. I liked his grinding style. We'll see how he does when he starts facing guys in the top 10-15 range. I think he has a bright future.

Jon Jones out of UFC 187. He is in custody after he fled the scene of a hit and run. Rumors are that he was under the influence, ran a red light and struck two vehicles. And there were drugs found at the scene. I really like Jones the fighter but the UFC needs to cut him. They did it to Matt Riddle because he refused to stop smoking marijuana.

Wow... I'll have to give it a look. Just had a chance to settle down at the computer for the first time in a few days. This wouldn't his first wreck/dui situation.

UFC 186:
Randa Marcos is my favorite fighter from that TUF season. Her striking has improved since she left the show.
Nordine Taleb was a beast in this fight. So much stronger than Clements.
I thought Barberena won the fight. The second round was the deciding round as it could have gone either way.
Alexis Davis pulls off a sweet belly down arm bar. The ref was an idiot, jerin valel is probably the worst ref in the business. Was on the wrong side and couldn't see a tap.
Cote was way too much for Riggs. Riggs looked like he has fought in 57 fights.
Almeida is a rising star. He is 19-0 with 18 finishes. He will be a top 5 fighter by the end of 2016
Makdessi was losing but got lucky with a couple of punches to turn the fight around. Campbell should rebound after getting a full camp before his next fight.
Bisping put Dollaway thru the cardio ringer in this one. Classic Bisping fight. Glad he won as he has been one of my favorites to watch in the cage.
Rampage vs Maldonado was a fans dream. We knew there wasn't going to be any rarefied (there was one that Fabio landed with 10 seconds in the round left in the 2nd). Rampages showed much more diversity with his striking this fight.
DJ is the best fighter in the world, and nobody cares. He has the least amount of star power of all title holders and the PPV numbers will show it. He needs to do something to up his PR. Maybe a move to 135 and try to hold the belt at two weight classes might help him.
All in all the card wasn't as bad as initially thought when all the people started to drop out due to injuries. It definitely wasn't worth a PPV buy, more of a fight night type fight card. Having the Marcos fight on the early prelim was a bad move, she definitely should have been on the FS1 card.

Re: MMA / UFC - Official Thread
Y'all think they would really cut him? I think it's more likely that they let the legal part play out, and assuming it's not any messier than it already is, he gets a boatload of fines and probation I would think. They he should have to go through a "full" rehab stint, I'm not sure what that looks like but it's clearly not a short process. From there I think you suspend him for a year, this is a year starting after rehab, and of course you take away the belt. I pray the lady he hit recovers 100%, her kid is healthy, and she is well compensated. After that I pray that this gets as bad as it needs to for Jones to be broken, and come out with a contrite and humble heart moving forward.

I think he's going to get stripped and suspended for at least 90 days, up to 1 year. I think it's closer to 90 just because there isn't a connection to coke again, just marijuana. The legal punishment could likely be far worse than the UFC punishment, due to the shift to a felony.

Dana White is straight biz
whatever is going to help UFC the best is what he's doing.
if there isn't some crazy public outcry, he'll be back asap.
